Hi Litsy fam! I am an 8th grade ELA teacher in Richmond, CA and am currently fundraising through Donors Choose to make sure all of my students receive a copy of The Children of Blood and Bone for our fantasy literature unit! $5-$10 goes farther than you think, and if you‘re able to, we would greatly appreciate any help ❤️ Link to donate: https://www.donorschoose.org/project/fantasy-for-fun/4700827/
In honor of the incredible, late Toni Morrison ✨ I‘ve read more than half of this book in less than a day! That says more about her as an author than me.
“The person who was supposed to love me hardest—the most unconditionally—has always wanted me gone. No matter how hard I tried to be perfect. Now, this boy—who knows all my imperfections and has seen all my hurt laid bare—wants me to stay.”
I‘m loving this book about sexuality, identity, and the importance of healthy love!
Thankful for breaks during teaching 3rd graders at summer school to read books that don‘t have pictures 😂
I wish I could have also included the picture of books that people have already donated to our classroom library!!! If you would like to add to our library, take a look at my Amazon wishlist! https://www.amazon.com/hz/wishlist/ls/PFED4LZXA9ND?ref_=wl_share
I love graphic novels and I love memoirs, so this book is PERFECT.
I‘m trying to intentionally read more books by authors of color! SUPER excited about this one. Do y‘all have any suggestions?
Totally not a book post, but guess what Litsy fam!! Apparently the move to San Francisco came with a ring and a future hubby!!! 🥰👰🏾
Sidenote: Aristotle and Dante Discover the Secrets of the Universe is a beautiful book about the exploration of sexuality and identity for boys. Totally recommend!
Update: I‘m officially a resident of San Francisco!!! I feel like I‘m going back to my college days as I wash laundry in our apartment basement while reading a book 👶🏾
I can‘t get enough of The Mortal Instruments series and now I‘m on to the third book! Have y‘all read these??
Look at all of my new buys/borrows! 😍 (the black book in the middle is City of Glass by Cassandra Clare)
Traveling in San Francisco for the break and found the cutest used book store! So excited for these reads while I celebrate this FIVE day weekend 🙌🏾
Snow day in STL, round 2! Except this time, my wine has been switched out for peppermint tea and my man is home 😍 I started The Mortal Instruments series about two months ago, fell in love, and thanks to a super sweet coworker, have access to all the books!
Living my best book nerd life right now! We let out early because we‘re expecting up to 14 inches (!!!) of snow in STL, so now I get to cuddle with my cat, drink a glass of wine, read and watch the snow fall on the city 😍
Anyone who knows me at all, knows I LOVE Michelle Obama. (Like, serious girl crush over here) I have been waiting to read this at the perfect time and I am so, so excited! #3of55for2019
As a middle and high school SPED teacher, a lot of holiday break is spent making sure my students will have a wonderful semester with engaging lessons. Tomorrow will be spent rereading through these two gems to write and revise curriculum for the upcoming quarter! We‘re reading Hatchet for HS and Persepolis for MS. Also, super pumped about the essential question we‘ll be exploring this unit: What does it mean to survive?
“The strongest athlete isn‘t the one who finishes first. That athlete is the fastest. The strongest athlete is the one who gets up again every time he falls, the one who doesn‘t stop when he feels a pain in his side, the one who doesn‘t abandon the race, no matter how far away the finish line is... Sometimes, no matter how much you want it, being the fastest isn‘t an option.. But you can always choose to be the strongest.”
