This was an enjoyable historical fiction read! Not perfect, but well researched. I enjoyed the historical parts more than the present-day sections. The publishing and comic book elements were a fun element of the book.

I had high hopes for this one. Overall it was just ok. I preferred the My Brillant Friend series, but glad I read this one finally!

Loved this book! If you're looking for a great non-fiction read, I recommend this one. So many great anecdotes to prove his point and it reads smoothly.

I liked the concept of this book but would have enjoyed it a lot more at 300 pages instead of 500! It dragged in a lot of places for me.

Excited to get started on this one!

The translation was beautiful. Got lost on the story line in a few parts. Also felt like the beginning took a long time to set up and then resolved too quickly at the end.

This was a great book and very ambitious in scope. I listened to the audio but think the physical book would have been a better option to stop and look up people and places referenced right away.

Finishing up my last book of 2018! Verdict is still out on this one... some parts are really well written and others are super confusing.

That night, she felt more generous. Most of the people there were so young and eager for approval. It was the easiest sort of kindness to say something nice and watch them bloom, as if compliments were currency and Charlotte a benevolent ruler tossing out coins from her carriage.

This short book packs quite the punch. Beautiful illustrations!

This was a well tied together collection of short stories. It was a fast read. I loved her use of language and the theme of ownership throughout the individual stories!

Loved this first- hand account of what goes in to publishing a dictionary. If you're looking for a great non- fiction read and you love language, I highly recommend this one!

This was simultaneously the most reassuring and terrifying book I've read in .... well, probably ever. It helps to know other people are also struggling with the same things...but in a way, it doesn't change anything.

I was really looking forward to this one after what I had read about it. Now that I'm finished, I am at a loss for what to say. I found it very...strange.

So so so good! 2/3 into Us Against You and I don't want it to end... I feel like I'm in Beartown living through this...all the feels!

So sad that this one is over! Slow start but loved the ending. Hope he continues to write more about this very relevant and timely topic.

Loved this book! I've felt let down by so many reads this year, but this one did not disappoint! Fun, quirky, and feel good...with a side of family dynamics that felt so realistic...and at the same time, so out there!
