Just couldn't get into it. It was boring and very "male gaze-y" and therefore unbelievable female character POV.

I really enjoyed this book. It's entertaining and witty as well as moving. I couldn't put it down and when I did I was always thinking about it.
Spoilers in this review. I liked it, didn't love it. The first chapters dealing with abandonment and survival really had me gripped, but it lost me when it became soapy/melodramatic, particularly with the two romantic relationships and resulting villianry, which didn't seem very original, you could tell where it was going and it took a long time to get there.
Really enjoying Where The Crawdads Sing audio book, but it's breaking my heart so far.
Came to the library to study project management, "accidentally" found this book.
This is not a biography, more an analysis of Mary as a ruler, within the specific Scottish context. It assumes the reader has substantial knowledge of Scottish and English history, however if you persist you can "read around it" and figure out what's going on. Very enjoyable and readable.
