The Emma Project is one of my go-to comfort reads. It's a beautiful love story that tackles difficult topics like familial abuse, sexism, homelessness, and mental health. The chemistry between Naina and Vansh is 🔥🔥🔥.

I‘ve been watching the U.S. Figure Skating Championships this weekend & remembered Rudy Galindo‘s biography. Rudy was the surprise U.S. Men‘s Champion in 1996. His long program was one of the best in U.S. skating history in my opinion. #FigureSkating

“Jane Bansil threw the heavy blankets over her head and burrowed deeper beneath the covers.”
Simon & Garfunkel's "The Only Living Boy in New York" is in my head today. Fun fact: this was one of the quotes I picked for yearbook senior year. ?

My favorites:
1) Emma
2) The Canterbury Tales
3) Beowulf
Hey y‘all! Question for you. I have friends from Brazil and Germany who want to join Litsy, but they say they can‘t access it there. Any suggestions for who to contact to recommend that Litsy expand access? I don‘t know if it would help, but it‘s worth a try, lol!
I‘m giving this a pick rating for good content. However, it‘s the same content from Emma‘s emotional regulation course on her Therapy in a Nutshell YouTube channel. I‘m watching the course now, so I didn‘t learn anything new from this title. I recommend this book if you haven‘t taken the course. If you have taken it, skip this book.
“Emotions can serve an important function, but the one thing that is sure to make them worse is by fighting them or avoiding them.”
Excerpt from: "How to Notice and Name Emotions" by Emma McAdam.

Lorelei tried to knock things on the floor as I watch a film with friends. She‘s so silly. 😆😆😆

Welcome to #MentalHealthMonday! What are you doing today to take care of your mental health? So far I've watched Star Trek with friends & spent time with my husband. I'm about to excercise & maybe take a nap. Taking care of our mental health will be vital in the coming weeks, months, & beyond. We still live in an "f your feelings" society & it's likely to get worse. Making mental health a priority is one way to fight back.
Taking care of our mental health will be extremely important in the coming weeks, months, and beyond. Any interest in a #MentalHealthMonday tag? Would love to see the books you're reading related to mental health!
It's been a while since I read this book, but I think it's a good fit for a plucky group fighting back against a fascist government.

Today‘s audio walk. Its supposed to be freezing next week, getting outside while the cold is manageable!

I'm watching Star Trek VI with friends on Monday. I love Grace Lee Whitney in that film.
My cat Lorelei sitting with my husband's glasses case. How's everyone holding up? I'm anxious but hanging in there. The impending inauguration is days away and it's weighing heavily on my mind. I'm taking things one moment at a time and embracing joyful moments when I can. But good gracious, this is hard 😥
Last year I did the 100 New-To-Me albums challenge. I listened to 100 albums I'd never heard before. You can see them listed in the link below. I'm doing the challenge again this year - any recommendations for albums to check out?

1. My favorite thing about winter is taking pictures of the landscape on beautiful winter days.
2. This is the first book that came to mind. The romantic leads get stuck in a snowstorm and have to spend the night together. This spicy romance is a great winter read. ❄️🔥
"As we collectively come to understand just what verbal abuse is and how it impacts humanity, we will have a healthier world... For example, a dictator using verbally abusive and controlling behavior could not rise to power if most who witnessed verbal abuse recognized it for what it is!"

My song for #TuesdayTunes. W. Darling, whose real name is Hayley Gene Penner, is a underrated Canadian singer. I recommend her W. Darling EPs and her album People You Follow, which is under her real name.

A short audiobook for the day.
Merry Christmas! I am listening this audiobook while making chocolate baked oatmeal.
Who‘s watching The Muppet Christmas Carol tonight?
This is Arrow. I met her today at the Auburn Public Library. They‘ve partnered with a local shelter to help cats get adopted. Wish I could adopt Arrow, she‘s very sweet and friendly.

This holiday romance novella features a stray kitten that the heroine adopts. It reminds me of this kitty I met in Belize. It was hard not to take it home!

Switched my schedule this week & have to work later today. Wish I had the day off, but since I don‘t I‘m enjoying some holiday reading before my shift.
Just started this lovely little novella. It has random definitions at the start of each chapter. Perfect for #WeirdWordWednesday.
I‘m listening to Kylie Minogue‘s Christmas album. I love her cover of The Pretenders “2000 Miles”.

“One of the wonderful things about fictional characters is that they can illustrate for us, in particularly memorable ways, aspects of the human experience that we might otherwise fail to appreciate.”
My cat Boots is not a fictional character, but here she is!

Happy December! Christmas music is one of my favorite things about the holiday season. This is one of my favorite songs. Reminds me of when I was in choir in high school.

Read this cute book about a therapy dog. It‘s a quick read with one-liners and pictures.
This short murder mystery was cute.
I‘ve been listening to Tori Amos‘ 2002 Scarlet‘s Walk album the last few weeks. Any Tori fans here?

I bought this book when I was in Belize and looking for something to read. I‘ve enjoyed it so far. A small town romance with a dog 🐶
Five joys this week:
1. Went for a bike ride.
2. Snuggled with my kitties
3. Got out of work early tonight & got to spend extra time with my husband.
4. Read great books.
5. Started plans for Thanksgiving dinner.

I‘ve been thinking about which social media platforms are best for my mental health post-election. Litsy is one of the best ones. Connecting with others through our love of books is wonderful. Thank you all for being awesome .
Happy Thursday from Lorelei. She looks grumpy because she just woke up.

Really enjoying this follow up to Forbidden. I‘m looking forward to learning more about Portia‘s story.
“When my grief was the hardest to face, I got busy again. I looked for ways to help others, and I did what I could.”
I voted early & then vacationed in Belize. I fly home today & my heart is grieving for my country. What keeps me going is thinking of small ways to help others who grieve, too. I hope this picture of a Caribbean sunset brings a small moment of joy.
