"One of our greatest freedoms is how we react to things."
Needed this reminder today ❤ This book is absolutely beautiful.

Stumbled across the sweetest little book today.
"'Being kind to yourself is one of the greatest kindnesses,' said the mole."
In case anyone needed a few more reasons to justify their reading habits or kickstart those reading habits again....#5 is particularly persuasive 😂
Kickstarting my own reading habits with some books I picked up from a local book sale. First on the list, one of Steinbeck's first pieces of work!
"But no matter what happens, life is only a series of days. You can‘t control more than a single day."
"If you want a picture of the future, imagine a boot stamping on a human face—for ever."
It took me a little longer than I wanted to finish reading, but I can't believe how relevant this book still is over 70 years after it was published. I didn't love the ending as it left me feeling a little hopeless. However, my boyfriend made a few valid points to support his claim that the ending is actually hopeful....what do you think?
Reading this book at the end of an incredibly crummy year was an amazing reminder to live the life you love and love the life you live.
Wishing you all the happiest and healthiest New Year!
I learned my lesson in not judging a book by its cover. I thought the cover of this book looked very similar to the cover of "The Book of Lost Things" and set myself up for a very confusing roller coaster ride as this book is nothing like TBOLT. It was an interesting read, but definitely was not what I was expecting. This author has been deemed the "Italian Neil Gaiman," but I think that's quite a stretch.
"Each man dreams his own heaven."
I read this book soon after losing my uncle (he and I were very close; we often bonded over books).
This book was so beautifully written. I loved the varied and fresh versions of well-known fairy tales scattered throughout the chapters. While I didn't relate entirely to David (the main character), I did find some of my emotions aligning with his which was comforting. The ending was heartwarming and satisfying
"Time is an illusion, a construct made out of human memory. There‘s no such thing as the past, the present, or the future. It‘s all happening now."
While the repetitiveness of this book did start to annoy me, it made me feel for the characters a little more. The use of sensory deprivation tanks will make me think differently about future experiences. I didn't love this as much as I loved Dark Matter, but it was intriguing and worth the read!
“Don‘t you want to be alive before you die?”
This book was incredibly powerful! It really made me stop and take a second to appreciate the little things we tend to take for granted. The ending was beyond emotional. There's a reason this novel won the Pulitzer Prize five years ago.
"We all live day to day completely oblivious to the fact that we're part of a much larger and stranger reality than we can possibly imagine."
This book completely BLEW MY MIND. Excuse me while I go contemplate my entire existence.
Would you enter "The Box?"
"I wasn't aware that words could hold so much. I didn't know a sentence could be so full."
I haven't read as much as I had hoped to during this quarantine, but I did finish this book in one day. I couldn't put it down!
While I felt it was a little predictable, I thoroughly enjoyed the story line, the characters, and the imagery. I also learned some interesting facts about female fireflies ??
Me waiting for my co-workers to finish reading our book club selection for the month. This book was such a page turner!
I can't believe I waited so long to read this book! Easily one of my favorites. 10/10 would recommend! 👼😈👫👬🐶📚
I have been a huge Stephen King fan FOR YEARS. This book is crazy!! So much is going on at any given point and the dynamics between characters are unlike anything I've see from Mr. King previously. I say it's worth reading if you are open minded and don't mind super f**ked up story lines.
I have a lot of yard work to do, but I'm going to sit outside and read instead 💁☀📚 #priorities
It's a beautiful day to read this theory 📖😜☀ #IloveLA #whatswinter
I loved this twist on a classic fairytale! It was interesting and not at all what I expected. I admire Gregory Maguire's creativity!
📚🌷👑👠
I feel this way about a lot of books, but especially this one! She's incredibly relatable and humorous. 10/10 would recommend!
FINALLY!! I have been looking forward to reading this for the longest time. I ❤ Anna Kendrick. 😁
I tried reading this book a few years back and just wasn't feeling it at the time. The second time around, however, I made it my goal to finish it. I'm glad I did! The character development is amazing (it is J.K. Rowling after all). I felt the plot dragged a bit at points, but overall it was intriguing. The ending definitely caught me off guard a bit. I finished the book last night and I'm still thinking about it. I say give it a read 😊📚
"You can never get a cup of tea large enough or a book long enough to suit me."

I LOVE ending my day snuggled under a soft, heated blanket with a good book written by an amazing author ❤📚😴
We've all been there. Don't lie 😉 #guilty #booksareawesome #idothismorethanishould #noregrets 💁📚
