Starting my second Knisley of the day! This all graphic novel #readathon has been my best idea in a long while. Since my last update I've finished: Black Panther n1-12, Paper Girls n6-13, Sex Criminals V3, and World of Wakanda n1-5. Pure joy during all of it.

Ready to scare myself awake for the next few hours. Oh, and eat ALL of the trail mix. #readathon

Bambolina_81 @jmbillinger Did you enjoy it? The book and the trail mix 😉 8y
jmbillinger @Bambolina_81 the trail mix is delicious. It's my favorite. The book is so good! But it's a true David Mitchell and it may be a bit dense for 3am. I'm taking a cat nap and hopefully will knock out the last 70 pages before 8a! 8y
Bambolina_81 I didn't realise how it connected to the Bone Clocks and thought I was super clever with every link I made 😂 8y

Book 3 is complete! This book ended up being more than I expected. I loved how the neighborhoods were so important to the telling of the story. Also, shoutout to my dog who has pinned me down and kept me from getting up once in the last two hours. #readathon @DeweysReadathon

On to book 2! I'm hoping that the style and format of this book will keep me motivated. Late afternoons are always the hardest (even when it's not a readathon weekend!) so hopefully this book and la croix do me a solid today. #readathon

Suzze Loved this book! 8y
alwz I'm about to crack open a lime LaCroix! My #readathon drink of choice! 8y

Finished my first book of #readathon! I enjoyed the Nest but I wish there was time focusing on the different characters. Especially the characters who are not Plumb siblings. On to the next one!

Loreen I agree. 😬😬😬. Congrats on finishing! 8y

Taking a break from The Nest to continue listening to Middlesex while making lunch. I'm revisiting one of my favorite blue apron meals. I can't believe it's already lunch time (for east coast readers at least!) #readathon

Just finished what is probably the happiest part of A Little Life and I'm torn between reading on and throwing my kindle down because I know sooner or later my heart is going to be ripped out.

bookishkai I had to take a break from reading it, because I could feel the intensity ramping up. 8y

I listened to this story, which was very long and mostly good. I loved the premise & getting a fictional look into the early days of comics. I did not love the narrator. His performance, at times, made it hard for me to maintain focus. I probably would have enjoyed this story more if I had read it.

Coleen Everyone seems to rave about this book. I enjoyed it for the most part, but wasn't sure what all the hubbub was about. 8y
jmbillinger @Coleen I can see what everyone enjoyed in it, but I missed out on fully enjoying it because of the narrator. I think it's definitely not a book for everyone. 8y

It took a while for me to get into, but the further I got the more entranced I was. Luckily, I'm first in line on the holds list for book two. I can't wait to read what happens next.

The Winter Family: A Novel | Clifford Jackman

This book shattered all of my expectations of a western. It was thought provoking, a little gruesome, and I was completely enraptured. I loved this look into the backstory of the villains rather than the focus of good versus evil.

Leaving for a wedding today in Belize. I can't wait for the next five days of celebrating, hanging out with friends, and reading by the pool. Here is my TBR for the weekend. I started The Winter Family on my first flight and I love it so far.

Bkwurm So many great books on this list. Have fun!! 8y

I was so excited about this book only to be let down. I initially liked the concept, but the different formats/gimmicks throughout ended up taking away more than they contributed to this book. The appeal of the 'illuminated text' quickly faded away when I learned there wasn't really a story.

Just had a glorious book discussion with my best friend about this book. So glad I have a person who is willing to say, 'I see how you can think that, but I think differently' without any hard feelings.

My heart was legitimately pounding at certain points. I almost DNF'd it because I thought I had it figured out and I'm so glad I didn't. The ending completely caught me off guard and it was so creepy all the way throughout. It was the perfect creepy book to read during this dreary weather patch.

ReadingMeagan This has been on my "to read list" for a while! Your review has me wanting to move it to the top of the list ? 9y
jmbillinger @ReadingMeagan Do it! It was on my list for over a year. I'm so glad it popped up as the first ebook available on overdrive when I was looking for a new book. 9y
AnnaDesourdy I 100% agree – my heart was pounding during certain sections of the book and like you, I thought I had "figured it out" and I even thought I had found a giant plot hole. Boy was I wrong! And I'm so glad I kept reading! 8y

Long metro delays just means more listening time for me! This book ties together all of its different elements seamlessly. Plus, it's making me want to know all of the things about early comic book creative teams.
