me rereading 😂
5/5. sooooo good?!? I‘m actually glad that I bailed on I am Malala for this (so I could read this one asap, ofc). plus I‘m not really feeling the other one right now- I want something happy and this book delivered

✊
also hello I am back from my hiatus :)
4/5. (i‘m a couple of days late from when i finished this)
this was so good, but i definitely liked the first book better. gemina was good, but i thought it was more confusing than illuminae. i‘m reading obsidio now, and it‘s my favorite if the three so far.
4.5/5. i‘ve broken my contemporary promise :)
this was so good! it took me a while to get into it, but after i did i was so glad i had bought it. i‘m reading the sequel, gemina, right now. can‘t wait to finish the trilogy!
5/5. i loved this!! i wasn‘t expecting much, to be honest, because i‘m often disappointed by classics. this one was a lot better because it is still entirely relevant, even though it was written in 1890. the writing style added to the book; i think that if it were a simple and blunt writing style it would have taken away from the meaning. there were a few moments that i gasped out loud and i didn‘t want to put it down. great read!
loving this!!!
3/5. this was really interesting, and i think it‘s important to read books about other kinds of mental illnesses like schizophrenia. i liked it and thought that the character was well-written and funny, but i just didn‘t love it for no particular reason. if i had bought this book, i probably would have donated it later on.
5/5. this was so much more than i expected! why was a book about a cartoon alien deeper than any book i have ever read? sidenote: i read this in 19 minutes. would recommend.
5/5. this was soooo good. written in verse, lowitz describes the events that happened in japan on 3/11, when a deadly tsunami sweeps through kai‘s town. the character in this book really helped to explain how horrible this event was. i don‘t want to give anything away, but this book was so sad and it was so good, too. i read it in less than 1.5 hours if you want a quick read.
4/5. this was actually way better than i expected. it had the right amount of fantasy/magic, and it was a genuinely interesting plot line. this was a really unique read and also dealt with some more important issues, like mental health and eating disorders. the only reason i took off a star was because i thought that a couple parts were a bit rushed, but it was an enjoyable read overall.
5/5. i knew i would like this. but like it this much? i had no idea. this book was so compelling, it really got me out of my slump (that lasted maybe 2 days, haha). i read the majority of it last night and today. i‘m hoping for more books from dana mele.
4.5/5. THIS WAS SO GOOD. i can‘t believe that this was arvin ahmadi‘s first book. the writing style was great, the plot was great, it was just great.
me too, honestly (even though it‘s still technically monday).
good thing spring breaks starts for me tomorrow (more reading time!).
5/5. i love love love loved this. the author, daniel handler, is actually the non-pseudonym of lemony snicket, whose writing style i really like. it was a lot of log descriptive passages and a lot of attention to detail, which was one of the main themes of this book. also, the illustrations were beautiful! be warned if you want to buy this, though, the heavy paper makes it hard to hold (i almost dropped it on my face, 😂).
i‘ve gotten sick again 🤧🤧
i really wanted to make a post about how beautiful the illustrations by maira kalman are. lovely :)
4.5/5. this was honestly way better than i thought it would be. throughout the book, laurel grows as a person. i loved the style of this book and the voice was amazing. if you have lost someone you love, this would be a great read for you. i loved this and would recommend.
4/5. i must say, this is one of the few murder mysteries where i didn‘t see the end coming. however, the girls in this book i thought were very unlikeable and lacked self-control when it came to sexual situations. it was quite sad, actually. but overall, this book was one of the better thriller/mysteries that i‘ve read.
3/5. there wasn‘t any rhyme or reason why i didn‘t love this, but i found that it just dragged on for me. people who enjoy reading romance will like it better than i did.
1.5/5. the voice in this book was unrealistic and seemed to pity herself often. i also thought that some parts were very rushed, however, i just read a 5-star book and was expecting more. i did like the ending better than the beginning and it had a nice message.
5/5. this was soooo good. it might be one of my new favorites, actually. jane sinner is so funny, so genuine, and such a boss. i loved the characters. lianne oelke has a true talent, and i‘m hoping for a sequel.
current read (so good so far omg)
plus we have the same first name and she‘s such a great character i mean wow
3/5. to be quite honest, i really don‘t enjoy this type of book, and i think that‘s why i didn‘t like it as much as i thought that i would. i think that others that enjoy this genre will like this a lot, but it isn‘t for me. may i also add that this is one of the prettiest books i have ever owned, with its simplicity and unassuming sharpie-lettered cover. truly beautiful.
5/5. i‘ve read this twice now, and it was just as good this time. simon is just so real, and this is such a great voice for young people. it‘s just so good. go read it.
1.5/5. this was actually so terrible. it was about this girl that thinks another girl (lizzie) that hat gone missing was a WEREWOLF. yes. you read that correctly. also, this girl was so condescending and also acting so angsty. that‘s all i have to say, besides i wouldn‘t read this if i were you.
this book is honestly so dumb. this girl thinks that this missing girl, lizzie, is a werewolf and is conducting an investigation. not what i signed up for ?? also, this girl needs to stop acting so depressed, what‘s her problem?
5/5. i will love this book every time, and i will love pudge and the colonel and takumi and alaska and lara every time.
i love rereading because i can see what i loved the first time.
3/5. for being on my tbr since i signed up for goodreads, this wasn‘t as good as i expected. to be honest, it was just another cliché romance with one good plot twist.
as i‘m reading this, all i can think when the longer passages come around is “here we go again” and i end up skipping over them. this book is trying to be john green but isn‘t (at least as of now).
5/5. if i were an author, this is the book i would write. it‘s a little bit of everything, a bit of mystery (okay, a lot), a bit of romance, a bit of humor, a bit of serious issues like sexual harassment. this was so, so good (but if you‘re looking for something like the book their, look elsewhere).
4/5. this book was great. it was very funny, something i usually don‘t say about books, and i really enjoyed this. it was quite short, too.
sick day ft. a library book
4/5. this was really a mental health book in disguise. it deals with depression, anxiety, and suicide really well, and you can tell that the author really did her research. julia had many of the same beliefs that i do, also, and it was just a relatable book. this is a great book with a strong female lead, but the reason i deducted a star was because at some points, julia was doing things that i thought were cruel, especially to her parents.
i really like this book so far, the main character is very strong by herself and is a good role model.
also, on the 13th of every month, i have $30 to spend on amazon, and this time, i have an extra $25 on a gift card. i‘ll post what i‘m getting as soon as it‘s delivered :)
1.5/5. i hate love triangles. i thought this would be fun and different, but it was honestly just a cliché with immature characters. ugh.
so far, i think that this book is incredibly unrealistic for a book about eighteen-year-olds. julia and dave are acting so clueless and i really don‘t much like this yet.
5/5. this book was truly one of the most thought-provoking books that i‘ve read, and that is because it was so much more than a romance. this is a book about books, and because of that, it had so many wonderful passages from the people reading books, leaving the notes to each other, and i loved it so much. (side note, if you‘re planning to read this book, take special notice to fredrick. he was my favorite.)
they‘ve cancelled school for me today, expect a review later this morning :)
3/5. you know, this was a lot. there was so much information. and it kept morphing into one thing to another- romance, mystery, a really sweet story about a set of twins- but it took me so long to read and just dragged on and on. it was okay. i get the hype. but i also don‘t get the hype, if that makes sense.
2.5/5. eh. it was okay. about what i was expecting from this.
4.5/5. my second review in a span of under two hours. glad to announce that this one was a lot better, and it was very suspenseful (but well-planned, too). it was written in verse, so i read it in an hour and a half (and one sitting). i really liked this one. glad i picked up the signed copy.
2/5. this book took me forever to read (meaning five days). i have never been a fan of love triangles. i love mysteries, but i hate young adult ones- the characters are always so concerned about falling in love rather than finding out where, in this case, a character‘s missing brother has been for eleven years. i was disappointed also by the writing style, which i thought was unnecessary. it was an okay book, but by all means, not a masterpiece.
10/5. this is my favorite book. i‘ve read it twice now, and i love it, i love it, i love it.
1/5. not what i wanted at all- it was a retelling of “a christmas carol” but it was a romance somehow. i was really disappointed.
been reading this for a few days and i‘m not very far along because of how much i don‘t like it :(
i thought i would too; i‘m quite upset.
4.5/5. i am utterly wrecked. this book was so good and so sad; i haven‘t read a book about wwii so good since the book thief.
