I really enjoyed this! Comps to The Rosie Project are accurate, but I think I liked this book more. A prickly woman has everything *just* how she likes it - but then she has to deal with obstacles that life keeps throwing at her. Her logical, unemotional way of looking at the world gets in the way of solving these problems & she starts to realize what we all discover eventually: life is full of gray area & we cannot control everything.

Oh my word, you guys! It‘s been a while! Anyone else social media-ed out? I needed a break! But I‘m back now 📚 I won a gift card to one of my local indies & spent it last weekend - this was my haul! Zinzi Clemmons was the reason I won, so I felt it was only right I bought her book ☺️

I don‘t know if any other littens have heard of Albion Tea Co. or have tried their literary-themed tea blends, but they have such a great mission! They aim to help kids aging out of the foster care system & recently they were at risk of having to shut down for many reasons, but primarily a lack of cash flow. Please go donate if you can, even if it‘s a dollar! They are the best & their tea is pretty amazing, too ☺️

Looking for a quick YA read with a unique premise that's kind of left open-ended? Here you go. This one is set in a world that is much like our own, except each person tends to their own grave throughout their lives. Each grave has a door & a unique key to said door; each owner is given the key & encouraged to spend lots of time in it (& even decorate.) Very interesting concept & this above anything else is what hooked me.

Heavy to have read in nearly one sitting, but I did it anyway. This wasn't a generic "whodunnit" - solving the murder is almost an afterthought. The primary focus is on examining the female experience in this world & how it affects the two main characters. Macguire scrutinizes the male-gaze & male entitlement & everything that follows, leaving me sad & wary. Definitely recommend.

Thinking back to my 15-year-old self, this is probably something I could've written because the ideas, the style, the conversations & events all seem incredibly familiar to that teenage girl I once was. Everyday life isn't as adventurous or dramatic as fiction can be, but it still means something. Life is full of little moments that add up & shape who we are & I love that this book is a reminder of that. Annie Barrows is kind of magic. ✨

As close to Gossip Girl as you can get without actually being Gossip Girl. Lots of unnecessary teen drama, which is my guilty pleasure & always helps me get out of a reading slump. Definitely scratched an itch, but if you're looking for meaningful substance, you won't find it here. Next up - the sequel! We'll see how it compares.

Eeee! Today I got a package & had no idea what was inside. My bestie completely surprised me & sent me the kindle I've been dying for! 😍 I've never owned one & with the amount of traveling I do, lugging my iPad around is seriously no fun. I have to admit, I struggled through the first 70 pages or so. But after that, for whatever reason, I was absorbed & found Poum & Alexandre both fascinating & incredibly strange. I liked that de Saint Phalle didn't write a comprehensive account of her childhood - just bits & pieces here & there, each anecdote told vividly, as if you were right there with her young self, observing each parents' separate eccentricities.

Colson Whitehead is in Sydney tonight as part of the #SydneyWritersFestival & will be in conversation with Pamela Paul. I love them both so much, but missed the boat to go & am so bummed! 😩😭

I was unhealthily obsessed with the Gemma Doyle series in high school, so I've always wanted to meet Libby Bray - & I almost did a few years ago but was too chicken! I ended up standing right next to her at BookCon at one of the vendor booths & as soon as I realized it was her, I totally froze up 😳😂 Alas, she walked away & I missed my chance to talk to her. Hopefully I'll be given another opportunity to meet her one day 🙈 #KostovaGiveaway

Ugh, my heart! 💔 I absolutely loved this. It's only 200 pages, but I read it quite slowly & I think I would recommend it that way. It took me a while to get used to the lack of quotation marks - sometimes I had to reread passages over & over because it was difficult to discern who was speaking - but otherwise, it was perfect. Definitely has a True Grit vibe, so if that's your thing, I highly recommend!

So, I would say 70% of what I read are books I don't own (either library books or e-galleys) and the other 30% consists of books I do own. I've really cut down on buying books the last year or so & now I love utilizing my library to read everything I want! I've been an avid reader for as long as I can remember - Junie B. Jones & The Series of Unfortunate Events were my go-tos until I was in middle school. Then I moved on to Jane Austen (cont. ⬇️)

What a crazy couple of weeks it's been. 😭 Finally getting my reading life (& Litsy life) back on track after moving to Sydney 📚 I really loved this one! It's super dark & eerie & macabre..some of the stories seriously freaked me out 😵 Enriquez managed to give life to things that don't think or feel (houses, rivers, towns, etc.) which made for a page-turning reading experience. Def recommend to those that love the disturbing & supernatural.

After a really long day, I finally got to tear into my #cupidgoespostal package & 😍 @Peddler410 thank you so much! I love everything. I've never read Nora Roberts if you can believe that & this one sounds like the perfect intro. & I'm so excited about the literary magazine - sounds amazing. Not to mention all the perfect goodies!
