Ummm, meh? I didn‘t get it. And I really wanted to love it. There was just so much going on it was hard for me to see the point. Anyone else?

wanderinglynn I DNF‘d it at 25%. I thought it was overhyped & a bit pretentious. 3d
Tamra This one has been my favorite audiobook experience! 😃 I know it isn‘t for everyone, but once I let go of trying to keep everything and every character (including footnotes) straight early on and just let it flow, it was captivating. It‘s like dipping in & out of conversations as an evesdropper. (edited) 3d
Scochrane26 I really liked this book (I did physical copy), but I can understand if others don‘t. It‘s a different style & I think took me awhile to get into. 2d

Although the narrator is excellent, the narrative felt a bit disjointed. I think I might have followed the timeline better if read. Very well researched.

I did not enjoy listening to the audio as much as I did reading the book. I thought it was more difficult to keep track of the characters and connect the storylines. Still, a pick for me. Love this author.

Reading this gave me a much better appreciation for the considerable amount of bs Britney Spears has been through and the level of resilience she must possess to have come out of her experiences with any degree of normalcy. Perfectly narrated by Michelle Williams.

What I love most about Jane Harper‘s writing is her ability to so masterfully craft the landscape that it becomes its own character, serving as an antagonist that weaves itself around every aspect, moving the story forward. This one just didn‘t quite get there for me.

Still, very well done, excellent narration.

2nd reading of this one, first in print several years ago and now on audio. I was in love with this the first time I read it. Not as wholly captivated the second time around but still a solid 4-star. It‘s a heavy book but Lauren Groff‘s writing is superb, as always.

Jane Austen is an author I really want to love. I could watch movie adaptations of her novels all day. But I just can‘t capture the nuance in her writing when I read her books. I‘m going to keep on trying, though.

#AuthorAMonth @Soubhiville

JenReadsAlot I'm working on this one right now too.... 5mo
MrsV I have to agree. I‘m slogging through Persuasion right now. I love Austen books as movies. I think it‘s just her writing “wordy” for me. 🤷🏻‍♀️🤦🏻‍♀️ 5mo
Soubhiville @JenReadsAlot @MrsV @DHill me too. I‘m using Serial Reader for P&P, and while I like the characters, the writing itself can be a slog. I‘m going to finish it though! 5mo
AnnR I think Austen is absolute master of what is now considered to be a run-on-sentence. 5mo
