Getting back into crochet is more Year of Dishcloths than Crochet Magic at this point, but Crochet Taxidermy is the life goal I didn‘t see coming. 😂😂

The Netflix intro does not give nearly enough away. 🤣 I‘m going to have to watch the series after reading this to see how they got from the book to the screen.

For me, the blurb was far more compelling than the story itself. The audio was ok (read by the author) but I feel like I would have gotten a better sense of time and expression if I‘d read this in print.

One of my favorites by Erik Larson. As always well-researched and well-written and Will Patton‘s narration evokes a mental movie-reel. Crazy historical parallels and ahhhh Easter Egg references.

Visited my favorite indie bookstore today and could not walk out without this.

Saturday feels.

I am 3 minutes into an 11 hour audio and already I can tell it‘s going to be hard to focus on the story when the intonations and inflections of the narrator are driving me nuts. Anyone else ever feel that way?

Next up.

This one‘s had a bit slower start than others by Alice Feeney but still so good. The ‘aha-s‘ are starting to fall into place.

Solid and engaging, but not riveting, story, excellent narration, as usual by Marin Ireland.

Well, that was fun. I loved book 1, have book 2 on hold, and am happy there are 6 more in the series to look forward to.

Not overwhelmingly technical and a completely relatable AI protagonist. Witty and thoughtful. The novella format keeps the narrative engaging.

Worth a try even if you don‘t think Sci-fi is your thing.
