Despite the main character being literally an every-woman, it being more romance than fantasy, and most witches being THE WORST... there is a lot of intersting things in this book.
Should I continue the series? #EclecticReaders
Unapologetic and not for everyone, though wildly important. This book of short stories documents and inventories the violence that women endure from society, men, our children, and ourselves. All at once grotesque, haunting, and empowering this book captures the turbulent and uplifting year 2017 has been for women.

This one has already made me cry - so I know it's gonna be good! Pick it up and join us on June 15th for our discussion for "Aristotle and Dante Discover the Secrets of the Universe"! #EclecticReaders #eclecticpick #bookclub #ya #lgbt
I can't think of a better book about #obsession for Day 17 of #MayBookFlowers. Unfortunately, it's for those obsessions and the heavy handed symbolism that I just don't LOVE this book. Unpopular opinion: Fitzgerald's short stories are much better.
If you want to give a couple a go I recommend "Babylon Revisited" and "The curious case of Benjamin Button".
The robots were weak.
No, but seriously. I think I was expecting Shakespeare fanfiction, with a few stable plots, and a heavy dose of comedy. Instead I got a comedy book loosely based on Shakespeare and with few true plotlines.
This book did get me to chuckle a couple of times, but ultimately, as someone who loves Shakespeare (even if R&J is my (2nd) least favorite play) this just wasn't for me.
Episode 35 is out #EclecticReaders! We discuss what makes a good retelling of a classic story and why some are more successful than others! Plus, we deliver a little love (and shade) to Ryan North's "Romeo and/or Juliet".

Hey #EclecticReaders! I was a guest on ESO's podcast this month where we talked about Maus! Check it out here: http://esopodcast.com/earth-station-one-podcast-episode-363-eso-book-club-presen...
A true classic, the first graphic novel to win a pulitzer. This story is filed with unbelievable truths, a love that lasts a lifetime, and characters that are very flawed and very real. This non-fiction work is one for the ages.
I cry every time I read it. What does being real mean to you?
@Merethebookgal and I had a fantastic time at #BRLive! We asked authors, creators, & publishers what their #eclecticpick would be - aka. What book they just love no matter how weird or rare.
Before we jump into their picks, I'd like to start with mine - Tanith Lee's "Biting the Sun" An amazing utopian-dystopia that asks, in a world where anything is possible, is everything perfect?
What is your #eclecticpick #eclecticreaders?
So, finally finished this epic and I feel - underwhelmed - there was a lot of promise here that I feel is never delivered on ... even after almost 1000 pages. The images are lovely.
We record this #EclecticReaders #Podcast on Sunday. Listen in on the 15th!
I have serious #booklust over the leather-bound version of The Last Unicorn. One day I will own you! Do you lust after any special editions #eclecticreaders?
"All the Birds in the Sky" is a beautiful, weird, utterly unique novel. It follows the story of two impossibly gifted children into adulthood, just far enough into the future where everything is similar and wrong all at once. It leaves you always feeling like the outsider and maybe that is the point - our main characters are certainly outsiders.
Highly recommend for those who like non-traditional story telling. Traditional was so 2014 anyway.
When I think of a book that is #fullofadventure I went straight away to Magonia! Daring in its choices Magonia is a breathe of fresh air - no pun intended.
In many ways the spiritual followup to that famous quote by Peter Pan - "To die would be an awfully big adventure."
@Merethebookgal interviewed @BookRiot's Jenn Northington of The Podcast "Get Booked" fame. They chatted about books (duh), podcasting, and the upcoming BOOK RIOT LIVE!

Finally started Imriel's trilogy. I love it so much, but I'm on pins and needles waiting for the shoe to drop!
The #EclecticReaders pick for this month is here. Read and listen to the #podcast on Oct.15!
The was another #EclecticReaders pick, that I happen to really enjoy in the end - though I did find it hard to get into in the very beginning.
If you have a scientific mind, enjoy books that are a bit more "literature," than "adventure," you'll love this book by Laline Paull. Not that there isn't a TON of adventure and intrigue, but Paull really leaves it up to the reader to reflect and figure out the depth of the conapiracies.
