Divorced writer mistaken for a killer for hire after someone overhears her talking plot problems. I wasn‘t sure the author would pull it off, but she did. Great story and protagonist. I hope the ending means there will be more to come with Finlay.

So lovely. Thanks @prhlibrary for the galley love! #happydance
#bookmail makes me happy. Thanks @macmillanusa
Not a humongous box of galleys but oh joy, what great titles! Thanks @macmillanusa Can‘t wait to read these - starting with THE TRAUMA CLEANER.
Look what I found when I came into work this morning! The books! And so much swag I could barely get it all in the picture. Thanks!!!! @kbwagers
Balogh is a hit or miss author for me. I always admire her writing but she doesn‘t always hit me in the feels. Her newest is definitely a hit. Deeply emotional and lovely.
Hero is both a billionaire and a former Navy Seal. Surprised he's not a long lost duke as well. #romancetropes
Woohoo! Look what came in the mail today. Thanks @PRHLibrary for brightening up my Monday.
This one looks right up my alley. Can't wait to dive in.
It's a tower of books from @PRHLibrary - you guys are the greatest. First up is The Waking Land as a way to escape this world for a bit.
At a recent mystery book group one of the other members mentioned this. British police procedural with a m/f detective pairing, the female half of the pairing can tell when people are lying. Sounded intriguing. About a quarter of the way through & the author twisted the relationship between the protags in a way I'd begin to guess at but still surprised. It's not something that will work for everyone, but I've already requested the next two books.
Looks like our library reviewers have been in a red and white mood lately.
Parker knocked it out of the park with her first book, Act Like It, and she's done it again with Pretty Face. This one is again set in the theater world of London (love!) and strikes a slightly more muted tone. But in doing so it became a more emotional read. Wonderful in every way.
Morning delivery from Flatiron Books. It sounds so good! And appears to be New Adult that isn't necessarily a romance.
In recent weeks I've found myself gravitating to escapist fiction - especially books with strong, heroic women as protagonists. Once a Hero hit all the right notes. Heroine with a trauma in her past is a reserved, inhibited genius who saves the day.
An early Christmas present from Penguin Random House! I'll be starting with Eleanor Oliphant.
I had no expectations of this one as I began reading but it had me with the first few lines and I'm loving the heroine's voice.
Apparently our MADreads reviewers have been in a red cover mood. Personally I loved Devotion and will definitely read another by Higashino.
Can I call a book fascinating and still be unsure if I liked it or not? This debut is set in Georgian London and is atmospheric and filled with a slowly building dread. I described it as a less romantic Jane Steele, meaning that it's edges are far harder.
Always happy to settle into a new Eve Dallas case. Here the hunt for the killer and the police procedure take center stage in a fast-paced story.
Early voting began today in Madison and for the first time citizens can cast their early, absentee ballots at our libraries. An awesome responsibility (and just a little stress-inducing). So unpacking a box of galleys from W W Norton was just the break I needed. Thanks guys! First up in reading will be Zodiac.
Took a break to spend some time with Cleo and Khensu as they work to save the galaxy.
I love Sharon Shinn's characters and fantasy realms. This latest in the Elemental Blessings series has a damaged h/h pair who bring out the best in each other.
O frabjous day, callooh, callay! Galleys from @PRHLibrary make me a beamish girl chortling in my joy. I'll be starting with Killers, for which I've been hearing raves.
One of the best thriller writers out there - can't wait to start.
The Last Billable Hour is an Edgar award winning book and one of my all time favorite mysteries and for sixteen years I've waited for Wolfe to write another. So you can imagine how I nearly flipped when I saw this e-galley. I'm about a hundred pages in and every moment is a delight.
Fantasy romance that hits all the right notes with a nice balance of world building and romance - and the heroine is a librarian!
Swanson's book The Kind Worth Killing, was one of my top reads last year, so I was thrilled to dive into his new one. So glad I did. Where TKWK was a cat-and-mouse game, Her Every Fear is a claustrophobic suspense-r. Great stuff.
Galleys from the gang at @PRHLibrary - I'll be starting with The Clairvoyants, described as gothic psychological suspense.
Nostalgia alert. This was a favorite "chicks-in-pants" romance from my teen years.
Read this and then read it again. Strong female protagonist who's a gunrunner suddenly finds herself called back (okay kidnapped back) to her home planet because the 3 people in front of her for the imperial throne have been killed. Cross Honor Harrington w/Goblin Emperor and you have Hail Bristol.
This is the 2nd in Raybourn's new Veronica Speedwell series and I loved it as much as the first. If you enjoy Elizabeth Peters' Amelia Peabody books, you'd like these.
Galleys from MacmillianLibrary - I'll be starting with Moon Chosen, first in a new series from Cast.
SEP at her best. Tough, intelligent heroine (with just enough quirk) and a hero to match.
Loved Big Little Lies, can't wait to get started on Moriarty's newest.
First up after #BEA16 - sequel to the fabulous An Ember in the Ashes and I can't wait. Thanks @penguinrandomhouse!
