Decided to pick this one up on a whim. I loved Everything I Never Told You. Hoping this one is just as good! #currentlyreading #rightnow

Listening to You All Grow Up and Leave Me with this lunchtime view. Not always a bad place to work 🙂 #currentlyreading #audiobook
I think this is going to be my next read. I‘m hoping it will be a bit of an antidote to the darkness of some of my recent reads ...
Just finished this, so still processing ... but heartbreaking, thought-provoking and beautiful. An emotional read from an interesting perspective. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
I‘ve had a pretty crappy reading year so far, but I finally finished a book I enjoyed! English Animals was full of quirky characters, well written with a good plot. I picked this up after a visit to the tiny natural history museum in Lille, France which is full of taxidermied animals -super creepy but it reminded me that I had not read this book. A very entertaining read and I recommend it to anyone who likes small town quirkiness.
Still processing this, but I know I loved it! Crazy mixed up people!
I read this straight after reading Nothing To Envy by Barbara Demick. I thought it would be interesting to compare the two books - one set in North Korea and this one set in South Korea. Both were brutal. 4 stars.
Terrifying but interesting. An interesting insight into life in North Korea. I really enjoyed this. 4 stars.
This little book sure packs a punch! Wonderful writing about a harrowing subject. 5 stars.
Hmmm. I really liked the plot line of this story, but it felt very drawn out and way too long. Didn't quite hit the mark for me.
Finally, a graphic novel series that I want to continue with! Really enjoyed this first instalment, though it is pretty gruesome! 🤢
Oh my goodness. This book really is as good as everyone says. My first Ann Patchett and my first 5 star read of the year. These characters will stay with me for a long time. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Book 2 done. This was a bit up and down for me - parts of it were superb and difficult and emotional but I found some parts dragged a bit. I gave this 3 stars. I'd still recommend it to the entire world though. ⭐️⭐️⭐️
Next up, I'll be reading this Christmas present 😊
A quietly devastating, thoughtful book with a melancholic atmosphere. Really enjoyed this. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Book 1 for 2017.
Everyone lives three versions of themselves; a public life, a private life and a secret life - Lauren Beukes, Broken Monsters
This book has gone straight to my (very small) favourites shelf. A collection of 50 true stories told at The Moth story-telling nights around USA, they are all different but all so moving and will reaffirm your faith in humanity. It's now on my bucket list to attend one of these events in the flesh. An easy 5 stars!
High expectations were sadly not met. I was expecting eery creepiness but didn't get that at all. The historical elements were interesting but I found the writing to be clunky in places and a little repetitive. Still ⭐️⭐️⭐️, it was enjoyable, just not the fabulousness I was hoping for.
This was pretty good and succeeded in pulling me out of my reading slump. I found it a little predictable, though, guessing the major plot points ahead of time. ⭐️⭐️⭐️and a half!
It's been a while. I've been in a hideous reading slump. Hoping this crime thriller will get me out of it ...
I went into this book completely blind, not wanting to know anything about it before I started. And I'm so glad I read it this way. Janet Ellis swept me down roads I was absolutely not expecting to go down. I loved it. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Weird and strange, as expected. Some of the characters infuriated me. A fascinating insight into a different culture. Enjoyed isn't the right word for how I felt about this book but I'm glad I read it. I'm not as enthusiastic as some people, but it was good. ⭐️⭐️⭐️
Book 5 in #tryachapter. This first chapter is very short and doesn't give much away! It seems a little quirky and unusual. Now to choose which of the 5 to read! This is a tricky decision!! 🙄😀
Book 4 in #tryachapter. This one seems to be the most 'literary' and dealing with the heaviest subject matter. I'm intrigued and want to know what happens next, but not sure if I'm in the mood for the concentration I think this one will require!
Book 3 in #tryachapter. This one seems fun, funny and touching. Love the two characters we meet in the first chapter and it seems like they are going to get up to some mischief together!

#tryachapter book 2. This was quick and easy to read. A simple writing style and a melancholic atmosphere. I'm intrigued, and it wins best cover of the 5 in my pile! A definite maybe ...
First up in my #tryachapter endeavour. First impressions: good! I like the writing, already dislike the husband and feeling sympathetic towards the wife. Interested to read more! (No defined chapters so read up to a natural break about 10 pages in) Have been wanting to read this for ages so may be the winner, but 4 more first chapters to go yet!
I watch #booktube but don't do my own videos. I really like the #tryachapter tag so I'm going to do it here! These are the 5 books - I'll read the first chapter of each and report back, then choose 1 as my next read!
I'm trying to get more into short stories but I'm not sure they are for me. Some of these were lovely but I found most were instantly forgettable which disappoints me as I'd heard great things about this collection. I will persevere!
I love passing on the books I've enjoyed to friends who I think will like them just as much! These beauts all went to new homes yesterday 😊
OMG. Bloody hell. Astonishing. It's best to read this without knowing much about it, so I'm saying nothing except ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Couldn't resist any longer!!! 😀😬 I loved I Let You Go ... Hope this one is just as good!
After a long reading slump this was just what I needed! The plot was intriguing enough to keep me interested and the atmosphere was very tense. Maybe a little predictable, but I enjoyed it and will be reading Ruth Ware's new novel. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Wasn't in the mood the first time I picked this up, but gave it another chance and loved it this time! Loving the 'magic' in this and can't wait to read the second in the series. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
I started this months ago but wasn't in the mood ... Picking it up again now and hoping I get on with it this time!
I had high hopes for this one but sadly I was disappointed. The first 3/4 was bitty and disconnected. The last quarter was better but in the end I was dissatisfied. ⭐️⭐️1/2
A fascinating glimpse into the dark world of Japanese crime, focusing on the murder of British girl Lucie Blackman. Well researched and highly readable. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Bought this baby second hand only to open it up and find its a signed copy! 😍
I enjoyed this. As an NHS worker I enjoyed Marsh's insights and recognised many of his traits in doctors I've worked with. His honesty makes for a kind of terrifying read. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
I am just getting in to graphic novels/comics - this is the second I've read. I had no idea what's going on, and it ends in the middle of the story which I guess is the norm. The art was pretty though and it was fun to read. I'll probably continue with the series. ⭐️⭐️⭐️
Gorgeous book post today! Looking forward to reading this.
Finally finished this! I really enjoyed tje first half, but the second half seemed interminable. Interesting topics covered and lots of despicable and/or melodramatic men! ⭐️⭐️⭐️
As there's lots of Bronte-ness at the moment, with Charlotte's bicentenary this year and Anne having died on 28 May I thought I'd give this one a go .., it's a beauty buy quite huge so we shall see how I get on.
This was a quirky, quick read. Set in the future, the world has gone to shit and everyone is killing themselves. Darkly funny and touchingly sweet, I really enjoyed this! Translated from French to English by Sue Dyson. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
This was an interesting read with lots of "did you know" moments to bring up at dinner parties! A little too much history, I would've preferred more personal anecdotes from the author's experience, but still a great read. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
