Oh Maggie. You have this way of telling a story that settles into my heart and soul. It took me a while to get into, but turned out just beautifully.

And this quote? LOVE. “By relegating the things we fear and don‘t understand to religion, and the things we understand and control to science, we rob science of its artistry and religion of its mutability.”

This. Book.

One of the best I've read recently. It's definitely dark, and there were parts that made my stomach turn, but just an excellent book overall.

This was fascinating. I learned so much about Scientology, and I loved listening to Leah tell her story.

My July reads. It was a light month, but full of awesome books. Strange the Dreamer was my favorite. And everyone should read The New Jim Crow.

So. I enjoyed the story very much. BUT! I really struggled with a Native American main character and the use of tales from so many Nations from a white author.

I liked, but didn't love this addition to the series. Several plot elements just didn't work for me and...I don't know. It just didn't grab me the way the first two did. Still an enjoyable read!

Holy crap. Read this book. It is extremely eye-opening and heartbreaking. I learned so much that I didn't know about the War on Drugs and the criminal justice system. It's a difficult topic, for sure, but it's very readable and very accessible. Highly recommend.

My June reads. I've got two others that I will likely finish today that will end up in the June total as well - Sorcerer' Stone and The Sandcastle Empire. Favorite this month was A Conjuring of Light followed by Eliza and Her Monsters. Really, though, I loved all of these books!

Different than anything I've ever read before. A story of love and healing between two people who had previously only met online. It was beautiful and touching and raw. LGBTQ literature.

My reading buddy and I stayed up late finishing this last night. Excellent ending to one of my favorite trilogies. When I saw the length of the book I worried it was going to be long-winded, but every scene really worked. Loved it.
