Honestly, I'm speechless. Reading this story, I became ravenous. I'm blown away by TJR's writing style here! I can't believe I let this sit on my shelf for MONTHS scared it wouldn't measure up to Evelyn Hugo. Shame on me! ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

Daisy was born to be a rock star. Billy emoted star status. Bringing them together was an explosion of star power that captivated the 70s. But, it was Billy's true love of Camila, the unsung hero, that left me wrenching.

Honestly, this book was such a breath of fresh air and EXACTLY what I needed!! Completely cliche in all the right places...sultry, HOT, and totally made me blush. LOVED IT!

Not all heroes wear capes, Chloe Brown! You keep doing you, sister, 'cause you're amazing. And Redford, WHOA!! Where do I find one of you?!! 😍

If you're in the mood for a fun, light, kinda naughty read - do NOT hesitate. Tore through this in a day and a half!

Wonderful to hear Lisa speak tonight! Such a genuinely lovely person - and witty too 😆
After hearing her share about her newest release I literally CANNOT wait to read it. The question is: do I have enough willpower to finish my current read before diving into The Family Upstairs?

Wish me luck!
PS - I hear it's rather creepy, so perhaps it's best read in daylight hours! 😱

This got me out of such a book slump!!

William Kent Krueger is not just an author, or a writer - he is an epic storyteller, much like our main character, Odie OBanion. Captivating, enthralling, every moment measured.

And can we talk about that epilogue! Such finality in perfect closure. Perfect peace. I am in LOVE with the book. Forever and always a part of my soul. Tell everyone you know! Literary gold!

Capricious.Nite.Owl I have this book and I am in a book slump right now...maybe I should give it a try 🤔 5y
MaceyT15 @Capricious.Nite.Owl it's WONDERFUL!! I've been afraid to start a new book because I'm still getting over this one! 5y
Capricious.Nite.Owl @MaceyT15 oh wow...then I definitely need to read it! Did you read his other book The Ordinary Grace? I heard so many great things about this book too and I actually bought a copy of it in a thrift store but sadly it‘s still waiting on its turn #neverendingtbr 5y

MaceyT15 @Capricious.Nite.Owl yes!! Ordinary Grace was one of my favorites up until I read this one. They are both incredible stories with well written characters. Ordinary Grace takes place in the 60s while Tender Land is in the 30s. Both coming of age stories. AMAZING!! 5y

Bryn Greenwood does it again!!

A love story no one could predict with an equal amount of drama and suspense built in. I just simply could not put this book down. And I must say, I thoroughly enjoyed being thrust into the knights and knaves and tales of chivalry. The Middle English took some time to adjust, but it was well worth it!

Loved this book!! Characters were well developed. I found myself quickly identifying with Tom. Every parent imagines they are not enough for their child. Jake is a charming, intelligent, perceptive young boy. Imaginary friends are not a bad thing!

I thought this book might be scarier, but it really wasn't. It was more of a psychological thriller than a hold your breath type of page-turner. I still finished it in less than 2 day!

Such a captivating story with such simple beginnings. There is nothing "ordinary" about this story.

Told as a coming of age narrative of 13yr old Frank, we are thrust into the Summer of '61 in rural MN. This was the summer the Drum family and those in New Bremen begun to wholly understand death. Through pain, love, loss and faith this family discovers who they are to become.

There is not a page of this story that didn't keep me wanting more!

Perhaps an unpopular opinion:
Although I finished, this nearly earned DNF status. The characters were mostly interesting, yet the story fell flat for me. Luring husbands into affairs is just too much of an obsessive behavior for a respected therapist. I never bought into it. I kept hoping for an awesome twist, but the only one presented I had deduced earlier on. ⭐⭐
I just couldn't give it any more than this, sadly.

I love how Williams wove together two love stories from different generations. I knew somehow they would connect during the timehop, but I was unprepared for a few of the twists thrust upon me. I wept, I held my breath, I laughed and I loved throughout these pages. LuLu is a protagonist I think anyone can identify with and Elfriede is such a genuine character one cannot help but feel for.
This is a must read!!

Wow!! What a page turner!

Quincy's memory is riddled with holes from the massacre at Pine Cottage. She's become a Final Girl, but she refuses to fit into the role of "victim". What unfolds nearly 10 years following the event is shocking, full of twists and turns, and surprising characters.

I'm surprised it took me this long to finally crack open one of Sager's books. I will surely be grabbing his next read very soon!!

NEW RELEASE DAY!!!

I've been waiting anxiously and can't believe this beauty is actually mine. You guys, the cover is tactile! You can actually feel the raised raindrops on the cover. I love it!

Now, do I put my current book on hold (A Nearly Normal Family) to dig into this one? That's my big dilemma...

JohannaRose I have the same dilemma! I am reading Six of Crows but decided I'll just put that on hold for a minute and read The Last House Guest first hehe. And I was so pleasantly surprised by the raised raindrops on the cover too! It certainly added something special, didn't it? 😃 6y
MaceyT15 @JohannaRose Totally agree about the raindrops. I think it elevates the quality of the book. Not that her books need elevating! I'm nearly finished with my current book now, so I'm just gonna stick it out. But will for sure start on this one by the weekend, if not sooner 6y
JohannaRose @MaceyT15 I totally agree! I love her books! I haven't read all of them yet I've read about 5 of them and my favorites are All The Missing Girls and The Safest Lies. I'm in the beginning of my book now so it's not so hard to switch over to this one, but I'd do the same as you and finish the one I'm on if I was pretty far into it. Happy reading! 😊 6y

I debated between pick and so-so for this one. The plot was genuinely intriguing and I enjoyed that Erin is just your average woman thrust into an unlikely scenario. Her choices throughout the novel shock me - this woman either has guts of steel or she is incredibly stupid. I feel there is a fine line between those two. All in all, great story with some unsuspecting characters. Worth a read!

Events begin to happen around her and she's blamed for these too. Was it all in her head? Is this because of her attack last year?

I enjoyed the suspense and thrill of this story. Although, I did figure it out pretty early on I still enjoyed how the story played out.

MaceyT15 @dfieb I looked into this recently as I was confused since I'd only seen "7" as well. Peter Swanson is quickly becoming one of my favorite authors and this book did not disappoint. Even with mixed reviews, I stuck through this one and ended up loving it! I found the story compelling and gripping. It reflects real life and these types of stories happen every day. While I understand some may see the relationships as controversial, I do not. I applaud the boldness of his storylines!

The premise in the beginning was a bit far fetched for me, but as the story continued it all started to fall in line. Suspense at every corner - along with a few unsuspected turns! I love when a story can do that and it still flows. The multiple POVs and altered timelines gives this book an extra jolt of thrill. As a redhead myself, I found I quickly fell in love with Lily. Heck of an ending too!

Chillingly reminiscent of The Lovely Bones - but just as gripping and sorrowful. A story of true loss; a family struggling to find themselves and discover love through loss. Laurel has lost so much, yet discovers herself through her painful struggle. The story isn't so much a whodunit, as it's quite easy to deduce. I found myself crying both tears of sadness and joy until the very last words.

Sutton and Ethan's love story is one for the books. Convoluted, shrouded in lies, but deep and everlasting. That is, until Ethan's world is torn apart by Sutton's disappearance. The book could've held it's own without them.
