“Racial justice must occur at both the individual and institutional level.”
“Racial justice must occur at both the individual and institutional level.”
This book is hilarious yet introspective.
I‘m switching back and forth between the audio and ebook. Fascinating story and the narrator is excellent.
“PNS, as the college of physicians and surgeons was known, had a thriving theater troupe made up of medical student actors, and to watch the shows the PNS club put on, the dreary soon-to-be radiologists and urologists in half an inch of eyeliner bursting into gleeful song, was to see what they might have done with their lives had their lives belonged only to them.”
“Do you believe in justice and equality?”
The successful adapters were excellent at taking knowledge from one pursuit and applying it creatively to another, and at avoiding cognitive entrenchment.
I have never participated in a #readathon before. I know I won‘t get #24b4monday with work and family, but the hubby will be away and I just might trying staying offline all weekend to see how much reading I can actually get in! I really want to finish the two books on the top of the pic. Anything on the bottom is bonus!
“I know the average outfit in your wardrobe costs more than a semester of tuition at Princeton, but it makes you look like a community college during summertime: NO CLASS.”
Enjoying time on the yard swing... until the mosquitos start biting
“It didn‘t fit that anyone who liked birds would be mean.”
I was disappointed in this much anticipated YA novel. Full review on Goodreads.
“Let the teachers teach, the parents parent, and the kids do the learning.” Preach.
Struggled to read this one. Heard it was good as an audiobook, but I don‘t think it works in written form.
I just love this depiction of parents who make a big deal of everything. Made me LOL
Sad, but meaningful. Reminded me of my own trip to Lake Atitlan!
I haven‘t been able to read for pleasure all week due to grad school work. This is what Fridays are for. ❤️
Who‘s read it?
I‘m already in the middle of several books, but when I saw this at the library I just couldn‘t resist! Good so far!
I highly recommend this book for anyone. I love Pink‘s down to earth style, and this book is chalk full of practical lifestyle changes based on scientific studies of human behavior. As an educator- there is so much we can learn to improve our schools.
Getting some things done while I audiobook it on a snow day
Across cultures, people experience a mid afternoon dip. More mistakes on difficult tasks happen in the afternoon. Do your hard thinking in the morning, creative tasks in the afternoon, and take breaks!
So many great applications to education! That‘s why I love Daniel Pink!
Mixing in a little nonfiction.
“...this crowd made Upper East Side girls look like Mennonites.”
Reading in front of the fire on a cold night!
“The baby wants out. Fonny wants out. And we are going to make it: in time.” p.175
