Probably my last physical library book for a while...a fun read, if a little rough as first novels often are. You don‘t need to be a fan of Rhett and Link to enjoy this, but there‘s just enough of them in the characters to make it sweeter if you are.

Maybe I say this every time, but this was definitely my favorite isn‘t he series so far.

I remember buying her very first book out of sheer support for an online acquaintance. I even did a tiny graphic for one of her later books, again out of support for someone I knew online. Even though I have many of them on my shelves, it‘s still astonishing me to be sitting down to read her 43rd (?) book, not so many years later.

An unequivocal five stars from me. This incredible story will haunt me for a long time.

While I disagree with the author‘s premise that the “bitchification” of women in the 1990s was wholly responsible for today‘s misogynist culture, I enjoyed this book because it allowed me to think back on my reactions to many of these “bitchifications” when I lived through them and how differently I view those stories today.

This book was incredible. Highly recommended for Shakespeare fans, former drama school kids, and especially those of us who are both.

I‘ve been in a bit of a reading slump since finishing school, so I‘m trying to focus on light fiction for a bit in hopes of breaking that. This certainly fit the bill! I‘m not a huge fan of the back-and-forth-in-time trope that seems to be so prevalent in modern fiction, but it worked well here.

30% in and this is still just a ranty list of the ways women are, and have been, invisible in a white cis male-centric culture. I get it. I live it. DNF.

I was pleasantly surprised by the arrival of this book, because I thought that #postlit had wrapped up. I‘m glad I got a chance to read this, though - I really enjoyed it! I will get it in the mail and on its way back to @irre this week. Also hi Littens! It‘s good to be back.

A gorgeously written story of love and war and people, with a bit of magic thrown in.

I realized that between the move and the new job and all the other excitement I‘ve had this summer I hadn‘t updated my blog since February! Giant catch-up post from me for March through July. Up to 94 for the year, over 50% from my TBR list. My oldest TBR book was from January 2017, which is when I‘m pretty sure I wiped my Goodreads lists and started fresh. The tagged book was one of my favorites, though there were many.

If you love medical history and the strange and wonderful things the human body does, I definitely recommend a trip to the Mutter museum in Philly. (The book is good so far as well!)

A little late with last week‘s #bfcr2 check-in. I only hit my step goal twice last week, but I finished the tagged book plus You May Now Kill the Bride and Algorithms to Live By. this will probably be a low-steps week as well, as I continue to recover from this annoying hip injury, but I hit 10k yesterday just doing stuff around the house, so who knows? @wanderinglynn #bookfitnesschallenge

This was me as a kid, 100%. I read A Clockwork Orange and One Flew Over the Cuckoo‘s Nest when I was in elementary school because I found them in a box in the basement, along with a weird horror book about dancers being murdered.

This book was not particularly well-written, though the last five chapters or so made me remember why I used to love Fear Street books so much.

Bailed ten minutes into the chapter that is mostly just a teenage boy talking about his penis. Not what I want to be listening to while I run.

I‘m so glad I got this on audio. Ned sounds like a muppet narrating a noir detective story (it‘s adorable), and WOW, I‘d listen to Eugene read anything.

I‘m not sure the book itself is my cup of tea, but I adore these goobers so I figured I‘d give it a shot.

Here‘s the thing about Rowling. It doesn‘t matter how that button got clicked. What matters is the crappy response. Because somewhere, there‘s a kid, a teen, an adult, who feels the Potter universe in their bones, and who is now crushed under the weight that its creator might believe that they are somehow invalid. We are still in the midst of moving, but I‘m excited to join you all for round 2 of the #bookfitnesschallenge. My goals are 6 books over 6 weeks, and to keep up 10k steps a day, which I‘ve hit almost every day recently thanks to the move. I have running goals as well, but I‘ve tied those to my fitness challenge at work. (Any other Littens doing the Cigna global fitness challenge?)

What a day of mixed emotions. While we‘re upstairs packing to move to the downstairs flat, our neighbors and dear friends are moving out of the downstairs flat and on to their next adventure. We‘re so excited and so sad at the same time. (They are big readers so I already know all the best spots to curl up with a book!)

The pollen count was finally low enough to venture out for a quick run. No audiobook, but a lovely chat with my husband - I jogged alongside him while he walked. Love these quiet vacation mornings. Got some reading in this morning as well - finished The Countess Conspiracy and Essential Scrum, and got a few more chapters into Leadership in Turbulent Times.

This book has a really solid section on tech debt. If you work on or with technical teams, even if they‘re not using Agile or Scrum methodologies, I‘d recommend grabbing a copy for this chapter alone.

I am SO excited for this. There are about a dozen other books “in line” (AKA due back to the library) before this one, but I have a feeling this will jump to the top of the pile.
