#SundayFunday

📖 Tagged, if I am not wrong 😊😊

📖 Yes, and I want to resume reading in Tamil, my mother tongue. Hoping to pick up one soon

Can't comment on the differences as its been practically decades since I last read a Tamil book

📖 Hindi!
(those who speak the language, care to guide me along?? ;))

BookmarkTavern I love the sound of Hindi. It sounds so lyrical to me. Thank you for sharing! 4y
BookishMe @ozma.of.oz I want to fully understand the lyrics of the Hindi songs I enjoy listening to ;D 4y
sudi @bookishme now i'm curious to find out which hindi songs are your favorite? 4y
See All 13 Comments
sudi And i think duolingo also offers hindi now, have you given that a try? 4y
BookishMe @sudi to name a few - Kal Ho Naa Ho title track, practically all songs from YJHD, altho this is my all-time cheer up track (I more or less understand the lyrics ;)) https://youtu.be/1cDoRqPnCXU 4y
BookishMe Yes, I have been wanting to check out Duolingo... Will take a look at the app ;D @sudi do you like to watch Bollywood as well? Or the music? 4y
sudi @BookishMe i was born in mumbai, so bollywood is what i grew up with. But the movies nowadays aren't that interesting, except for some. Lately since my mother's daily tv soap schedule has been disrupted because of the pandemic. We have been watching older classics. 4y
sudi @BookishMe those are good movies, i also love the song Kabira from YJHD. 4y
BookishMe @sudi yes, Kabira has a mellow melody... Hope the older classics make better entertainment ;D started first lesson on Duolingo. Surprised at introduction to alphabet and pronunciation. I was hoping to pick up words through transliteration 😉😉 4y
sudi @BookishMe my mother watches them so i watch them along with her, i was a little surprised that i actually liked many of them. I think there should be an option for a test which can determine how much you already know so you skip ahead. But anyways good luck, hope you enjoy learning it. I used it for french but i procrastinated too much, maybe i'll take it up again 😁. 4y
BookishMe @sudi procrastination is always The Enemy 😉😉 thanks! 4y
Tanisha_A Hiiii! How have you been? Been so long. Hope you and family is well! ❤️ 4y

Not familiar with speculative fiction, so I chose Butler's short stories.
An unexpected surprise!
Perfect for night & I had to restrain from continuing in the day 😉😆

A Necessary Being succinctly captures paradoxical hierarchy, where the Hao is apprehended to rule the captors.
The second, A Childfinder, is a brief tale of budding telepaths and their mentor facing danger.

Looking forward to more of her books.

A Year in Provence | Peter Mayle

I remember I bought Mayle's series of memoirs even before I had finished the tagged. So I actually have 2 copies of this 😍😍

So clichéd if I may end up visiting France on my first trip to Europe... But Provence is MUST for me -
for the vineyards and pastis, for the weekend market, to view one of the ranges of the Luberon and Mont Sainte-Victoire.

I can't wait to read A Pig in Provence for #ReadYourSign ;D

#BlameItonLitsy pick that I didn't expect to zip through

The time travel was the initial pull but eventually the compelling characters kept me glued.
Café staff don't try too hard to please customers. The stoic owner & bubbly wife, with a heart condition.
Kazu, the café waitress reminds the time travelers of the rules before sending them with steaming coffee.
My favourite was outlandish unconventional Hirai. All Different yet share common bind.

Maria514626 It sounds great! Thank you! 5y

BookishMe Same here! I was introduced to Kanae Minato recently and couldn't resist starting 5y
BookishMe @Maria514626 ⬆️ whose books have you been reading lately? 5y
Maria514626 I read If Cats Disappeared From the World. And I keep thinking of Strange Weather in Tokyo even though I read it a year ago. Same with Convenience Store Woman. I‘ll have to try Kanae Minato! (edited) 5y
BookishMe @Maria514626 If Cats Disappeared from the World has been appearing on my various TL. The other feline title, highly recommended is tagged. I only know Kawakami's The Nakano Thrift Shop, on my list. How did you find Convenience Store Woman? I know its popular but I come across mixed reviews 5y
BookishMe @Maria514626 I have enjoyed Keigo Higashino's crime fiction and hope to continue this series 5y
Maria514626 @BookishMe Convenience Store Woman was a quiet strange book. A bit sad. A very interesting glimpse into a purposefully small life. If that makes sense. 5y
Maria514626 @BookishMe Thanks for all of the recommendations! I started The Nakano Thrift Shop but didn‘t finish it. I think it required more attention than I could give it at the time. His writing is so lovely. I‘m going to give it another try. 5y
BookishMe @Maria514626 I will keep these in mind... Convenience Store Woman hasn't appealed to me yet. This chat with you makes me want to draw up a list of TBR Japanese Books! Haha... Something for me to look forward to ;D 5y

Bond's earliest discovery of literary treasures were these gems after avoiding excursions to the jungle.
Prior to these, his reading included abridged versions of Robinson Crusoe & Gulliver's Travels, Lamb's Tales of Shakespeare7 (retold), The Coral Island by
R M Ballantyne.
PGW was forefront of his discovery & this chapter included excerpt from #buzzword 😆 'Love among Chickens'

After reading her mysteries, I feel Miss Marple has led me through evils of people in her time. Plots have become predictable despite the twists.
