Good Poems for Hard Times | Garrison Keillor

We‘re making a statement by waiting until the very last day of April to share this video for National Poetry Month. That statement is, “We are procrastinators.” 😂

Come listen to us read poetry to you! We shared a combination of poetry we didn‘t write and poetry we did write! https://youtu.be/_4bL2NRgTKo

EadieB @Butterflyamore I enjoyed the poems and especially the ones that you wrote. I love poetry too but don't really read enough of it. I post poems for the daily prompt and enjoy doing that. I was especially impressed with the vocabulary in your poems. Very well done both of you! 5y

Today is the start of the ALA's Banned Books Week. I own two of 2016's most banned books, and have read 4 of them. What about you?

Cinfhen What????Why????LOVE this book 7y
alisiakae @Cinfhen For E&P: "One of seven New York Times Notable Children‘s Books and a Printz Honor recipient, this young adult novel was challenged for offensive language." At my daughter's elem. school, Drama has drawn parental complaints, but they did not remove it from the school library. 7y
[DELETED] 206653737 I've read Eleanor and Park and Looking for Alaska. I'm surprised these two are banned but it seems like almost everything has been banned at some point. 7y

TrishB Read three - have George on the pile. Is it just the US these were banned in? I can't imagine it here. 7y
Cinfhen 💔it's 2017! 7y
monkeygirlsmama No and no, but I see a couple I'd be interested in reading. 7y
quirkyreader I have the Green and Rowell. My ex found them in the trash and brought then home to me. 7y
alisiakae @bookish22 It does seem like everything gets challenged by someone, somewhere. @TrishB Just the US, the list is put out by the American Library Association. George is a fantastic book! @Cinfhen I know, right? We experienced a ban first-hand last year in our school district when a book was pulled from an anti-bullying curriculum 😤: http://www.charlotteobserver.com/news/local/education/article139909173.html 7y
WarpedSweetness I haven't read any of these, though some of them are on my TBR list. I'm not surprised they were banned. People will challenge anything. 7y
alisiakae @BookHoarder32 What did you think? I liked E&P. 7y
Booksblanketsandahotbeverage I liked it! But I liked Fangirl more 7y
SilversReviews I haven't read any of these, but I have read quite a few banned books. Never knew!! 7y

This was a surprise. I didn‘t even read the description of this book. I just picked it because it was about words. I was blown away by the theme of the story and how it was put together. Big gold star ⭐️. #wordshavepower #2017christyread #audio
