I listened to the audio and followed up with the BBC miniseries. The book skips around and does a lot of behind the scenes story movement. The miniseries filled in a few gaps and left out some important parts. Dorothea was almost interesting but her lack of action killed it. Rosamund ended up being more interesting even though she was supposed to be one of the villains. #meh #2017christyread

The story of a young woman‘s struggle with mental health was compelling. It is told from other people‘s points of view as well as her own. The story allows you to see how others perceive the illness as as a how the person copes with those perceptions. #firsttoread #2017christyread

Interesting take on the Holmes brothers‘ dynamic. I‘m a big fan of the BBC show and I always found Mycroft stiff and without personality. I liked that the story flushed out Mycroft. #2017christyread

Allan Karlsson is the Swedish version of Forest Gump. A Forest Gump that craves vodka and has a talent for explosives. I liked the story but if you aren‘t paying attention during the #audio you miss when they do a flashback. #grumpyoldman #2017christyread

A little slow at the start but overall enjoyable. Claire seemed interesting but Cornelia seemed a little flat. #2017christyread

I thought this was a cute, quirky story about a woman‘s overwhelming day. I suppose you could write off most of it as superficial but I don‘t believe all of it is. #ilikeit #2017christyread

I heard that this was a slow start but I found it to be a quick read. A magical realism love(?) story and the effects of immigration on the relationship. I liked it. #doors #2017christyread

Schlinkles Loved this book! One of my favorite reads this year. I didn‘t find it slow at all. 7y

Lonesome Dove: A Novel | Larry McMurtry

I had to finish the book once I got started on this week‘s reading. I have never been a big western fan but I loved this book. It was smart, funny, tragic and hopeful. The women in the book are determined and brave in their own ways just as much as the men. But be forewarned there is a lot that can trigger crying spells. #lonedove #2017christyread

This was book was the equivalent of the Real Housewives of Singapore and Pride and Prejudice. However, it was more witty than trashy. I‘m really looking forward to reading the next book. #2017christyread

I finally got a copy of this book. It is so hard to believe that everything happened for real. I had a hard time putting the book down. After I was finished I had to follow up to see if Atilla ever got released. #reality #2017christyread
