This month's selection from #WellRead plus some interesting looking add-ons. Lucky I decided to go for them this month since the bookshops are closed again☹️

Tonton Nice😎❣️ 3y
Cinfhen Lovely!! Not the lockdown situation but your subscription service is wonderful 😁 3y
TrishB Looks like a great selection 👍🏻 3y

LeahBergen Closed again? Aww, that sucks. 3y
Megabooks Wow! Y‘all have had A TON of lockdowns. 💜 yay for books, though. 3y
Lizpixie The whole bloody country is gonna be in lockdown soon. I blame the PM for not getting enough vaccines and for letting in overseas flights from known hotspots. How‘s your lockdown in Melbourne going? Sucks up here with the 5km radius still on. Plus my 30week pregnant daughter was in a covid location and is in 14day isolation. Fingers crossed she was lucky🤞 3y
CarolynM @Tonton 🙂👍 3y
CarolynM @Cinfhen It's great. They chose really good books🙂 3y
CarolynM @LeahBergen @Megabooks We did really well over Summer and most of Autumn but it's been lockdown on and off since the end of May☹️ I think it's probably going to continue like this for a while. 3y
CarolynM @Lizpixie The Feds started well in the pandemic but then let us all down. The vaccine rollout has been a complete dog's breakfast, they've completely abrogated their responsibility for quarantine and their policies on people coming in and out of the country are indefensible. I hope your daughter is ok. That's so worrying for all of you. Sending love and hugs❤️ 3y
Lizpixie Thanks lovely. I‘m actually more worried about the two housemates she‘s living with, pregnancy hormones and two weeks of close quarters with no respite is driving her a bit loopy! 3y
Jeg Hang in there. On tender hooks here in Perth. Bound to happen again here. I‘ll be fully vaccinated this week. 👏. 3y
CarolynM @Jeg Thanks Joy😘 The cases in NSW are just going to keep climbing so there's no hope of keeping it out of here even if we squash it this time ☹️ The distance is a blessing for WA at the moment. I'm booked in for my second jab on Thursday. 3y
Jeg My second jab is Thursday too I‘ll be thinking of you. 😊. 3y
erzascarletbookgasm Lockdown again in Melbourne? ☹️ I‘ve completed vaccination..situation here is out of control, daily new cases are not slowing down; vaccination campaigns not aggressive and targeted. And only yesterday our govt decided to open up most sectors!! Stay safe, my friend. 💕 3y
CarolynM @erzascarletbookgasm As difficult as lockdown's are, I'm glad we're taking that route and not letting the case numbers keep mounting up. I'm sorry your situation is so bad. It's good that you've been able to be vaccinated. Take care😘 3y

The Colosseum | Keith Hopkins

Pickpick

This was such an interesting read, dealing with the origins of the colosseum, it‘s uses, the famous gladiator events, even touching on the morals and ethics surrounding such a horrific and brutal sport.

Enjoyable if you are after a little slice of history with a little bit of humour and nostalgia thrown in!

#nonfiction #ancientrome #historygeek #gladiators #romans #colosseum #history #dork #wellread

VeganCleopatra There was humor thrown in? 4y
LostInSpace @VeganCleopatra all of Mary Beards writing has some sort of humour in it, I guess it‘s kinda dark humour but I like her writing style, she brings history to life 🙂 4y
VeganCleopatra Huh. I don't recall thinking she was humorous before and I've read a few. I actually like dark humor too. Now I wonder if I missed. 🤔 Have you read SPQR? That was my most recent Beard book and I found it pretty terrible and badly in need of an editor. I may have been too irritated to notice subtle humor. 😏 4y

EadieB @Butterflyamore I just tagged you on my list of 20 books I read in February. 14-5 stars, 5- 4 stars, 1- 3 stars, 15 female authors and 5 male. 9 mystery thrillers, 2 historical mystery, 4 psychological thrillers, 4 fiction, 1 historical fiction. Mostly these are my series that I know I will love their books. That‘s why I have so many 5 and 4 star books. 5y
EadieB I‘ve read In The Woods and I think I told you that she is a very good writer but too wordy. From the books you read, I am interested in The Other People, The World That We knew, The Hold Out and My Dark Vanessa. 5y

I know a lot of BookTubers got their end of the year videos up in December. Bear with me in January because I‘m just getting mine up now. I love making graphs for my reading stats and I‘m excited to share them with you! You can check out my latest video here: https://youtu.be/1BNNSCPUkoo

abookishbutterfly @EadieB Cool! Thanks for sharing your stats. It looks like you read a lot of books you really enjoyed. That definitely makes for a good reading year! I don‘t rate the books that I DNF, either. 5y
EadieB @Butterflyamore I read a lot of series from authors that I have read for years so I know their books are ones that I will enjoy. 5y

‘Tis the season for terrible, blurry thumbnail pictures for my BookTube videos, thanks to my dependence on natural lighting! Anyway, my December wrap up video is up: https://youtu.be/hxrszFx2aF8 Let‘s talk about our December reads!

cariashley Wow I don‘t think I realized how big Imaginary Friend was until this picture! 😯 (edited) 5y
abookishbutterfly @cariashley Yes, just slightly over 700 pages! It‘s a monster! 5y
EadieB @Butterflyamore I haven't read any of the books you read in December. I would be interested in This Tender Land which I have on hold at Library, All That's Bright and Gone, The Woman in the Mirror and The Apple Tree.
I read 20 books in December. My favorites were You Are Not Alone by Greer Hendricks & Sarah Pekkanen (fav book - 2019), The Tenant by Katrine Engborg was very good too. The Unwilling by John Hart ARC but I think you would like it.
5y
abookishbutterfly @EadieB I really need to make reading something by John Hart a priority this year. I have three of his books and I hear such great things about his writing. 5y
EadieB @Butterflyamore That was my first book by him and I was very impressed by his writing. 5y
SilversReviews @Butterflyamore It was. Love his books. 5y

It‘s a little later than usual but I finally got my November wrap up video up! I‘m excited to talk with you about the books I finished last month: https://youtu.be/1tCHRTxp5FU

#novemberwrapup #bookreviews #booktalk #wellread #readinglife #booked #bookpile #youtubeforbooks #booktube #happyreading #arcs

EadieB @Butterflyamore Sad to hear you didn‘t like The Other Woman as I have the ARC too however, I have read her Paula Maguire series and found the books very well written. I am interested in reading Darling Rose Gold, The Cheerleaders and Trace of Evil from your reviews. I‘ve read 13 from November but did not read any NF. My favorite reads are Whitethorn Woods by Maeve Binchy, The Third Twin and Night Over Water by Ken Follett - all 5 stars from me. 5y
EadieB @Butterflyamore The Other Mrs. by Mary Kubica is a psychological thriller that I know you will love! It was hard to put down, suspects galore, edge of your seat surprise ending. So check that one out! Really good! I have to listen to your movie YouTube as I was traveling home from Mexico when I got it the other day. Your tag today has reminded me to do that so I‘ll be back to you after I finish it. 5y
abookishbutterfly @EadieB I have been hearing lots of great things about The Other Mrs. I definitely want to read it! I‘ll probably wait until it comes out, as I‘m a little overwhelmed with ARCs right now and want to be able to read some of my other books, too. I did see one review state that they couldn‘t believe that the same mind that wrote the Paula Maguire series wrote The Other Wife. Maybe I‘ll reconsider my stance on not reading another one of her books. 5y
EadieB @Butterflyamore I would definitely check out her Paula Maguire books! 5y

Well Read, Then Dead | Terrie Farley Moran
post image

Just caught up on the #PBS show #WellRead while #audistitching. Now having dinner of Caprese pizza (how it differs from a Margherita is still unclear), then not stitching. Have yet to decide which book, though I should probably finish Pumpkin Flowers #LitsyPartyofOne

readinginthedark Is that basil on top or pesto? 8y
drokka @readinginthedark I believe it's basil pesto. Is that the difference then, fresh basil = margherita, pesto = Caprese? 8y
Robothugs I'll just be stealing a slice of that... 8y
See All 7 Comments
readinginthedark @drokka I've never had Caprese pizza, but that would be my guess. I can't find a difference anywhere else. Oh, and Margherita has fresh sliced tomatoes on top. So, maybe that's a difference as well? (edited) 8y
drokka @readinginthedark Great catch! I didn't even catch that there aren't tomatoes on this one. The sauce makes up for it though, very yummy. 8y
readinginthedark @drokka Well, it looks delicious! 8y
Inspiredtoreadwrite A margherita can be with or without fresh mozzarella. And it has fresh tomatoes(diced or as a sauce) with fresh basil(most times). Caprese pizza don't exist in Italy. It's either a caprese or margherita pizza. Caprese doesn't have pesto. Caprese is fresh sliced tomatoes, fresh mozzarella and fresh basil with olive oil, some put it some don't but usually has it. So anything else was just inspired but re-created, not the original classic recipes. 5y
