So, tell me... am I the first person not to love this book? The scenarios that played out were the kind of reason why I hated to hang around other girls when I was a kid. It was a very familiar but uncomfortable read for me. (Side note: I had no idea pads used to be hooked to belts??? Weird!) maich I read another book by this author and didn't like it. So I never try her books again. 5y

Roary47 I‘ve never tried the author, but find it interesting that the book discussed periods. The detail to mentioning belts I would figure especially as an older publication seems unique. 5y

ravenlee I‘ve never read it, nor felt the desire to. I did know pads were either hooked to belts or pinned to undergarments/skirts, which just sounds horrible. 5y

SaturnDoo Judy Blume has always been a favorite author. Like @AmyK1 I read this several times as a tween/teen and loved it. I reread it last year and still love it. ❤ 5y

JenniferTapler Hmm. Like @megnews I remember loving this book as a tween / early teen! That was awhile ago, so I don‘t really remember much of the content, but I definitely read it multiple times. I can remember my Mom giving it to me and feeling like reading it was some kind of rite of passage. 5y

LibrarianRyan @maich Really? While this one was not my favorite, I love her Fudge books. And The tagged book, One in the Middle is the green kangaroo. Freckle Juice. Oh so many wonderful stories.

LinesUponAPage This book was required reading in my house. We got this book and then we got the “talk”. I don‘t honestly think anyone was supposed to love it, i think it was like a lot of books back then it was supposed to inform, or warn, (like Go Ask Alice by Beatrice Sparks or 1977‘s “made for t.v.” The Death of Ritchie or any 70s & 80s after school special). Parents back then wanted visuals to teach their kids the socially unacceptable public discussions. 😉 (edited) 5y

maich @LibrarianRyan I read only Summer Sisters (slovenian edition) a few years ago for our local challenge with Summer in the title. It was interesting story but I didn't like the writing style. It was a little boring for me. Maybe will try another book by Judy. Will see😊 5y
