Dark and Twisted Tide | Sharon Bolton, S J Bolton

Pickpick

Lacey Flint is living and working on the River Thames. She discovers a body while swimming in the river and is immediately drawn into an investigation. Who are these women and where have they come from? Starts slow but becomes more and more interesting as Lacey unmasks the secrets of the people living on the river. Her relationship with Mark Joesbury is moving forward and Lacey seems happier.👇🏻

EadieB ☝🏻 This is the last book in the series but does not feel like full closure to me. In order to read this series, I suggest starting with Book 1 Now You See Me in order to fully understand the character of Lacey Flint. I look forward to reading some of her standalones and recommend this series to those who love mystery thrillers. #ADarkAndTwistedTide #SharonBolton (edited) 4y

#TheSplit #SharonBolton

Setting: Antarctic & Cambridge. Felicity is on the run and hiding from her ex-husband in South Georgia Island in Antarctica. She is a glaciologist. While back in Cambridge she visits a psychologist who delves into her background and ends up helping her. A bit slow in the beginning but a very gripping read in the end. Twists kept me on the edge!
I would like to thank St. Martin‘s Press for an ARC for an honest review.

EadieB This book will definitely end up as a favorite read for this year. Sharon Bolton has outdone herself! 5y
tracey38 Sounds gripping. I stacked it for when it comes out! 5y

EadieB @Tove_Reads Yes you will love it. Will be published in April! 5y
EadieB @eanderson yes! She is amazing! 5y
EadieB @tracey38 yes! Edge of the seat thriller! 5y
Tove_Reads I know! I sometimes wonder if I should try to become an Arc reader as well. 5y
EadieB @Tove_Reads I like NetGalley but you have to be careful not to get to backlogged with all the other reads we do too because you should get your review done before published date. 5y
Tove_Reads Where do they expect the reviews to be? 5y
EadieB @Tove_Reads I put mine on Goodreads, LibraryThing, Twitter, anywhere you can. Some people have blogs. Litsy is great because so many readers here. They ask you to put it on Barnes and Noble and Amazon and notify you a reminder when the book is published. 5y
Tove_Reads So, I signed up. Will work@on my platforms today and tomorrow to get the up to date so that the publishers wants to give me books 😍 5y
EadieB @Tove_Reads Sounds good! Have you done any reviews in the past. They may want to check out reviews. 5y
Tove_Reads Reviews where? According to Amazon I‘m not eligible to review on their site 5y
EadieB @Tove_Reads Also you can check out: LibraryThing Early Reviewers/Member Giveaway - they have a list of books for people to review.

https://www.librarything.com/er/list
5y
EadieB @Tove_Reads You can review on Goodreads, LibraryThing, on a blog (if you have one), Litsy 5y
Tove_Reads Yeah, I do review on Litsy and I‘m now copying the review to GR. Will review separately on both in the future. Also reviewing on my blog. 5y
EadieB @Tove_Reads That should be good enough. I just requested Ken Follett's new book coming out in Sept 2020 In The Evening and The Morning - Description
From the #1 New York Times bestselling author, a thrilling and addictive new novel--a prequel to The Pillars of the Earth--set in England at the dawn of a new era: the Middle Ages
5y
Tove_Reads Most def would like to have that one, but I doubt I have a chance as a newbie 5y
EadieB @Tove_Reads I think you would have a very good chance as you have read so many follett books. Update all his book reviews and then go for it! 5y

This book was a great start to the series. I liked the Jack the Ripper connection and found it very interesting. I liked the characters and the plot. There were a lot of twists and turns that keep the pages flying. I found the ending a little confusing but all in all it was a pretty good book. I'm looking forward to reading the next book in the series and would recommend this book to those who like mystery/thrillers.

Andrew65 I felt the ending was a bit of a let down. 6y
EadieB @Andrew65 I agree! It felt like a different book at the end. 6y
Andrew65 @EadieB I‘m struggling as a result to buy into Lacey”s character. Forget her past, it‘s her current actions that means she can‘t be a police officer. 6y

EadieB @Andrew65 I think Lacey will be a very different character in the next book. 6y
eanderson This is one of my favorites! The whole series is pretty good! (edited) 6y
EadieB @eanderson Good the hear! 6y
Andrew65 @eanderson I loved the first half of the book, but I did feel a few inconsistencies in the second. Still a very good book which I‘m sure will only improve as I progress through the series. 6y
EadieB @Andrew65 Have you decided what group read books on LibraryThing for December (edited) 6y
Andrew65 @EadieB Not yet, I‘ll have a look. I hope to do a longer term plan over the weekend rather than month by month. 6y
EadieB @Andrew65 ok sounds good. Just working on my list for December 6y
Andrew65 End Game by David Baldacci (which finishes off another series) and Typhoon Fury by Clive Cussler and Boyd Morrison (which almost gets us up to date in that series). 6y
EadieB @Andrew65 Thanks for the quick response! 6y
Andrew65 @EadieB Couldn‘t hold up your December list. 😂👍 6y

I‘m leading a Group Read on Librarything of the first book in Lacey Flint Series by Sharon Bolton over the next 5 days. If anyone on Litsy would like to join in let me know below and we can discuss the book on Litsy as well.
#LaceyFlintGroupRead #SharonBolton #NowYouSeeMe

eanderson I love love love this series!!! 6y
Andrew65 @eanderson I‘ve only read about a fifth of the book but can already see why! Hooked! 6y
Tove_Reads How are you doing so far? Do you get why Bolton is my thriller Boyne? 6y
See All 13 Comments
Tove_Reads I don‘t understand why she is not world famous as Dan Brown or some others. I find her to be the best of the best in her genre! 6y
Andrew65 @Tove_Reads Obviously only just started the first book, but based on that very much so. I find it strange the luck involved with being considered a top writer. Unpopular opinion here, but I feel there are a lot better writers out there than Dan Brown and J K Rowling, yet they get all the press. I have found a lot of great writers who are barely known and Sharon Bolton although is known to some extent could fit into this category. 6y
Andrew65 Some great self published writers out there but some get all the press who I do not enjoy as much. Don‘t get me started on award winners. Okay step away from the soap box Andrew. 🤭😶😂 6y
Tove_Reads Fully agree! Also John Boyne should be a known media figure and appear on every 📺 show and be in all magazines. I mean, he is famous, but nowhere close to Brown. There are so many better writer‘s in Brown‘s genre. Gayle Lynds. Gayle who? ☹️ 6y
Tove_Reads I have to say that there are many authors people have never heard of here, but I‘ve gotten the library to purchase them on Overdrive, and now they are really popular! Can you believe that before I asked we only had half of Boyne‘s and Bolton‘s books in Finland? 6y
Andrew65 @Tove_Reads I love Scott Mariani in that genre, as well as James Rollins and some others that are hardly known. Much prefer those to Dan Brown. Last 2 or 3 of his have left me bored and unmoved! 6y
Tove_Reads Don‘t get me started on all the other fantastic authors out there I‘ve gotten to Finnish libraries! I should get a commission 🤣 6y
Andrew65 @Tove_Reads I think Robert Goddard owes me a lot of money for publicising him on reading websites, amongst others. 6y
Tove_Reads I‘ve gotten the old Rollins to the library as well, Glenn Cooper too. Working on getting Cleeves and Mariani. They have been translated though, which is fantastic, but I like to read in the original language. 6y
Andrew65 @Tove_Reads Some of my favourites. (edited) 6y

It started out a little slow but now I am about half way through and haven‘t been able to put it down! I guess I will just stay in bed all day :) #sharonbolton #thriller #creepy #bibliophile #bookchallenge

RadicalReader @AWildMandaPanda I have never seen a book rated 100% recommendation will most definitely check out this novel never been a better reason to check out and indulge in a book 6y
Mirazzles @RadicalReader. The beginning is a little slow but the atmosphere and setting is fascinating and unique. I quite like it so far and have had trouble putting it down! So far it is quite good :) 6y
RadicalReader @AWildMandaPanda if you could collect any bookish item( book marks, book ends, book jackets, etc) what would it be? 6y
See All 6 Comments
Mirazzles @RadicalReader It would probably be book marks. I like collecting unique ones and my friend has made me a few really cool ones. My mom also used to make them for me as a child :) what would you collect? 6y
RadicalReader @AWildMandaPanda book marks as well so unique and treasured. Love the laminated ones best lol most practical for use 6y
Mirazzles @RadicalReader They really are very practical! I think I like the homemade ones and the ones I find at the local used bookstore (they make their own cute ones) and I really like when I find a bookmark in a used book. I think I found some of my best that way :) 6y

This book forced a Starbucks run this morning. I didn't truly start this book until Sunday evening - and I proceeded to finish it late Sunday night (way past my bedtime). Un-put-down-able! Interesting protagonist backstory, wonderful murder mystery. I have never read #SharonBolton before, but I just found a new author to binge!
