I absolutely loved this book. It mostly centers around 3 people and their connections on the night the plague hit. Arthur who dies on stage that night, Jeevan who tried to save him and Kirsten who was on stage with Arthur as one of the children in King Lear.

While searching for a book in my home library to complete the #booked2022 prompt for #setinacanadianprovince, I was giving up hope, until I realized that this book would work! The story of Anne warmed my heart and soothed my soul. I read this as a young girl after my mother gave it to me for Christmas. Reading it again,I realized that she must have chosen it, not only for the wonderful story, but also because of the character, DIana. #kindredspirit

The joy of challenges is picking up books you wd not have read to find an author you will like again , so with
#setinacanadianprovince #booked2022
The story by 3 narrators, a man recently split from his partner who moves to a house he inherits in a small ontario town, an 8 yr old girl whose sister is missing, + an elderly lady in a care home. Great storytelling + characters, + a gradual reveal

23/22 It took me less than 24 hours to finish this 11 hour audio book 😳 I listened every second I got and just loved it. One of those rare mysteries where I was not too bothered about what had actually happened because I just wanted to stay with the characters in there lovely little town. I have dived straight into the next book but really must stop listening now and get some sleep!! Read for #booked2022 #setinacanadianprovince 4⭐️

BarbaraTheBibliophage I really want to start reading her. 3y
Cinfhen That‘s the best type of recommendation!!! Must try this series!!! 3y
Magpiegem @BarbaraTheBibliophage & @Cinfhen definitely give her a go. This book had a lot more depth then the average cosy mystery… I‘m not sure you would even count this as cosy but they do talk about hot chocolate and cosy fires A LOT 😂 so it has a hint of cosy about it! 3y
BarbaraTheBibliophage @Magpiegem Haha. Right now as summer starts here, hot chocolate is not on my mind at all! 3y

Second in the Gamache series, and it counts for #setinacanadianprovince for #booked2022. Kind of an obvious choice for that one 😂 I did enjoy it, but it‘s a bit more “cozy” and I usually prefer my murder mysteries to be a bit more on the edge of the seat. I‘d still like to finish the series, as Armand Gamache is one of my favorite book characters ♥️

Cinfhen Glad it worked for #Booked22 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼 3y
Amiable I love this series. 😍 3y
CBee @Amiable I‘d heard it starts a bit slower and gets better with each book. I think I was having a weird week because it was a slow read for some reason 🤷‍♀️ 3y

Amiable @CBee It definitely gets better as it goes. For me, the individual mysteries themselves are less of a draw than the overarching narrative that slowly reveals itself throughout the course of the series. 3y
CBee @Amiable I definitely want to keep reading them! Have you read the entire series? 3y
Amiable @CBee All the ones she‘s written so far, yes! 🙂 3y
CBee @Amiable well, I‘ve discovered that they‘re on Kindle Unlimited, at least through book 6 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻 3y

This really is a beautiful book. Although it isn‘t big on plot, I was very interested to see what would become of each of the well-developed characters. Liam, a 30-something man, arrives back in Solace and meets Clara, a young girl going through something big and they form a bond. An episode from Liam‘s past is slowly revealed by Mrs. Orchard, a neighbor he had a special bond with as a child. I teared up multiple times throughout this quiet novel.

BarbaraBB I still need to read this one too. 3y
Cinfhen It‘s on my TBR too @BarbaraBB Glad to hear it‘s a winner 🌸 3y

It took all I had not to stay up and finish this one last night. So, I had to finish it this morning!

Without going into too much detail, as this builds on so much that has happened in the Gamache series, this has to be one of my favorites thus far in the series. So much emotion is conveyed in Penny‘s writing, and so many built up layers fall into place. She really could have ended the series with this one, but we all know it continues!

Librarybelle My progress for #AwesomeApril - depending upon how the day goes, I may just meet my 20 hour goal by the end of today! @Andrew65 3y
Librarybelle I‘m also using this for the #Revenge prompt for #YeahBaby #BBRC - there are definite elements of revenge that have grown throughout the series and culminate in this one. @LibrarianRyan 3y
Cinfhen Yay!!! Good find 3y

I tried to read this book last year but hibernated it. Tried again tonight but ended up skimming to the end. Should have bailed but it fulfils lots of prompts! 2 🌟
