This book is absolute chaos and I was totally lost at times. At some point I want to reread the whole series and I think I will follow this better. It is still an entertaining book and a fit end to Jade‘s story. I won‘t say much more as it would all be spoilers. If you are a horror movie fan, I highly recommend this series. 4⭐️

I thought it was good. Classic CJBox Joe Pickett story. It had all the good characters. A few weird twists and hard events. Overall I enjoyed it. I didn‘t like that it ended with some unfinished business but I guess that‘s how you sell more books.

4.5⭐This story moves from one POV to another, giving their account of events centering around the death of a child at a school where the mother is a teacher. Each POV is a single chapter, so the chapters are rather long. Despite this…it still moves along quickly…it‘s repetitive without feeling repetitive since each POV is so different. Eventually, the whole story is unraveled…at the end, you‘ll get one last bombshell dropped...which is a stunner.

I am currently reading this book and to be honest it‘s dragging. This is the finally book in the trilogy so I am giving it a chance. #theangelofindianlake #stephengrahamjones

1) Done

2) It‘s a toss up between The Demon of Unrest by Eric Larson or The Heaven and Earth Grocery Store by James McBride.

TheSpineView I haven't read anything by Larson but have several on my TBR list. 💙📖📚 2w
Cheryl_Russell_BookNotes @TheSpineView I‘ve read most of his books. He‘s one of the very few non-fiction authors I auto-buy. 🙂 2w
RamsFan1963 The Demon of Unrest is excellent. I'm trying to savor it, resist the temptation of swallowing it all in one big gulp. 2w
Cheryl_Russell_BookNotes @RamsFan1963 Good to know. I think I‘ll read The Demon of Unrest next, then. 🙂 2w

I have loved this series, though this final installment is the weakest of the three books for me. It could have used editing and there‘s a section this goes past horror/gore into straight silliness (and I don‘t think he intended that). Also, the audio isn‘t helped by the author reading the last chapter in a combo of monotone and upspeak that was hard to pay attention to. But it was fun to spend a little more time with Jade.

vivastory I have read only book 1 in the trilogy so far, but OMG the scene in the elk tunnel. I read it last yr & I had such a visceral reaction to that scene 3w
TrishB I do really want to read this series, but I‘ve been told there‘s a lot of animal cruelty and it puts me off? 3w
Hooked_on_books @vivastory I don‘t remember that scene specifically, but he certainly goes the distance with the horror and gore. 3w
Hooked_on_books @TrishB The critters at the receiving end of the violence in this series are human for sure. I don‘t remember details of the first two but remember loving them and I‘m not ok with animal cruelty. So I can‘t say some animal death isn‘t present, but if it is, it definitely isn‘t a focus. 3w
TrishB Cool, thank you 👍🏻 3w

I truly enjoyed my time with the Count of Monte Cristo/Edmond Dantes. I anxiously awaited the famous prison break, which was everything I hoped for. There are so many characters, at times it felt like I was reading several different stories. The book pretty much covers Dantes‘ entire life, yet at the end I wanted there to be more. I liked the ending, and yet, I feel like there is more story to be told.

My initial reaction to the release of Angel was indifferent; I knew I would read it but wasn‘t sure if I wanted to just yet. Still, despite my disappointment with Reaper, I love Jade and Jones.

And SGJ really delivers! It moves with such speed that it‘s halfway over before you realize you‘re in the thick of it. It‘s an insane, often infuriating but ultimately satisfying conclusion to a story I believe will go down as one of the GOAT in horror.

Mehso-so

Hmm. I won‘t pan it - though I‘m tempted. Maybe with time, I‘ll change my mind (like I did with Book 2) but this as an ending to an epic world building that started with Chainsaw (the absolute best horror book I‘ve read in a long while), the homage to slasher films turned too navel-gazey and ultimately got far too convoluted and confusing. I‘m sad about it to be honest. But Jade will always be a final girl to me.
