My #scholasticbookfair wrapped up on Friday and I'm still recovering. We not only acheived our goal, we entered a new place value making $10,044! We only have 375 students. We raised enough that 56 VIP students got a free book and each teacher received at least 6 books. My library got 6 boxes of books! I have already used up 2.5 sheets of barcodes. I'm full of gratitude. Tomorrow I need to teach. I'm not ready!

This book came with my #scholasticbookfair with great timing. It was interesting to read and see what we thought we knew about the Day of the Dead and what we actually learned from the book. It's really a beautiful family celebration. It's a meaningful tradition that deserves to be understood and not appropriated and trivialized.

37 students will get a reading ticket which allows them to visit the book fair while it's closed with a staff member and chose a forever book. This is my favorite part. 😍 #scholasticbookfair

mandarchy @DogMomIrene I think we are only missing one or two. I'll have to go and look at pictures. We don't put all the stuff out on purpose, but I think they provide fewer toys in the spring. Our fall fair is in November - so Christmas gifts. 3y

DogMomIrene @mandarchy totally makes sense! I know those impulse items were usually big sellers at my old middle school, but I do recall seeing more in the fall. Plus you have Weird Slime! What kiddo could resist? 3y

mandarchy @DogMomIrene I paused on the slime for a reason 😉. I just looked through old pictures and we are missing one crate, but there aren't that many books. Very few titles have more than 5 copies. Only one restock box. 3y

mandarchy @Texreader my favorite event at out fairs is having staff take VIP students shopping while it's closed. The counselor gives me a list of students that need love and a book. We use the ALLFORBOOKS donations plus our Scholastic dollars. Adults are instructed to avoid interfering in choice and the only rule for the student is that it has to be a book. So they can get journals or books. It really makes your❤ grow. 3y

Texreader @mandarchy That is heartwarming and brilliant. Building readers among those least likely to grow up readers. Giving them a safe place to take their minds when they need to. Oh my heart. 3y
