My wife and I (circled) saw an amazing show at Red Rocks last night! Bastille (pictured), Nile Rodgers, and Duran Duran. Bastille and Duran Duran are two of my wife's favorite bands. We've seen Bastille a few times, and they were reliably solid. I didn't know what to expect from Duran Duran, but they were surprisingly great. Nile and the Chic stole the show, though, with a 45-minute funk party that was just a freakin' blast!

JamieArc Amazing! My sister-in-law saw Duran Duran recently and had a great time. This venue is definitely on my bucket list! 1y
CSeydel I love Bastille! 1y
Cinfhen Sounds AMAZING! Saw Duran Duran a few years ago…they really were awesome especially since I knew pretty much every song #OnceAnEightiesGirlAlwaysAnEightiesGirl 😜 1y

keithmalek I never forgave Duran Duran for killing Bobby Kennedy. 1y
TrishB Sounds like a fab show 👍🏻 1y
Aimeesue I miss are Rocks so much. Sounds like a great show! 1y
Suet624 Great photo. Sounds like a fantastic time. 1y
TieDyeDude @JamieArc I had been there 15 years ago, but did not remember how challenging it was to navigate. My wife has asthma, so between the altitude, dry air, and lack of ADA-accessibilty, it was very difficult, but honestly worth it! 😁 1y
TieDyeDude @CSeydel They are my wife's favorite. We've seen them live three times since we've been together 1y
TieDyeDude @keithmalek I had to look that up 😅 1y
TieDyeDude @TrishB @Aimeesue @Suet624 Any one of the bands would be worth seeing on their own! 1y

This is what I call a toaster. Does both sides at once and the toast pops up when it‘s done. This one does 4 slices. You can get smaller ones that do 2 and bigger ones that do six. There was a bit of a fad for toaster ovens here back in the 80‘s, but they‘re not common now.

Isn‘t it wonderful where books can take you?🤣

rubyslippersreads I still have the toaster oven my dad bought 25 years ago, although I usually use a pop-up toaster. My brother still has my grandma‘s toaster—the flat kind that sits on a stove burner, and you (very carefully) turn the toast with your fingers. 😄 1y
IndoorDame @rubyslippersreads oooh, I‘m not sure what the flat kind looks like… is it kind of like a griddle? 1y
Bookzombie I have this kind of toaster currently. It only does two slices at a time. I was a kid in the 80s so maybe that‘s when we got a toaster oven too. My mom used it for years. 🙂 1y

Centique Yes! Ive seen a toaster oven overseas but i just thought it was a pie warmer. Never figured out how to make toast in it. 😂 1y
BarbaraBB Yes! This is what I‘ve got too. Toasts two slices and can be put away when not in use. Thanks Carolyn 😀 1y
Cinfhen This is what I call a stand up toaster! The other that @Bookzombie shared is a toaster oven @BarbaraBB , which I use…not to be confused with a convection toaster which my mom has in Florida and I can‘t figure out how to use it at all @Centique !!!! I ❤️my toaster oven, #OnceAnEightiesGirlAlwaysAnEightiesGirl 😜 1y
BarbaraBB A convection toaster @Cinfhen ? Never heard of that one either 😂 but I am glad I now know what the word stand up toaster means! 1y
Cinfhen So funny where a book review about a thriller has lead to an entire international “education” on toasters @BarbaraBB @TrishB 1y
TrishB @Cinfhen I feel I am well educated for any future world travels 😁 1y
TrishB @BarbaraBB putting your toaster away is another source of much discussion too! If you have watched Derrygirls you‘ll know only Protestants put the toaster away😂 1y
TrishB And now @rubyslippersreads introduces a new toaster! 1y
batsy Yep, this is what is known as a toaster in these parts, too! 😁 1y
CarolynM @rubyslippersreads That sounds delightfully old world! My grandparents had the kind with the element in the middle and pull-down sides. You had to be pretty careful turning the toast over in that one too😆 1y
CarolynM @TrishB I didn‘t realise I had Catholic habits🤣 If I was at home I‘d post a picture of my kettle and toaster in their little permanent bench nook. Explains why my parents always put their toaster away though. 1y
CarolynM @Cinfhen @BarbaraBB @Centique @batsy We‘ve all been thoroughly educated and can feel much more like women of the world now🤣 @TrishB really started something! 1y
TrishB I know what to expect anywhere in the world for my tea and toast now 😁 1y
rubyslippersreads @BarbaraBB Just be sure it‘s completely cool before you put it away. I know of someone who burned down her kitchen by putting a still-hot toaster in a cupboard. 1y
rubyslippersreads @TrishB Grandma‘s toaster looks somewhat like the flat ones shown at the top of this article: https://improvisedlife.com/2014/02/03/toast-comfort-stove-top-toasters-tattood-f... 1y
erzascarletbookgasm Mine toasts two slices at once and toast bread is my favourite staple breakfast 👌😊 1y
BarbaraBB @TrishB Another source of much discussion 😂 I grew up in a Catholic part of Holland, I should have paid attention what they did with their toasters! And you are right @rubyslippersreads it needs to cool first! 1y
CarolynM @erzascarletbookgasm You can‘t beat tea and toast to start the day 😄 1y

Two men literally fall out of the sky after their plane is hijacked. Both survive & one goes on to a devil like role and the other to play out the angel part. Then it gets nuts. There are historical flashbacks, ghosts, gods, prophets, & your never sure what is real 🐐
But in my opinion it's worth the craziness. Although I would like to suggest the audio version & Tears For Fears 'Everybody Wants To Rule The World' really works.
#TitlesAndTunes

Cinfhen Ahhhh, fabulous!!! #OnceAnEightiesGirlAlwaysAnEightiesGirl 🤩And now I‘m definitely gonna look for SV on audio!!! Thanks for posting & sharing 🧡 1y
BarbaraBB Great review. I loved this book so much! And Tears for Fears was one of my favorite bands in the 80s! 1y

Once again my devices fail me - apparently I have more battery life in me than an iPad from 2019. I think it‘s time to trade in - Anyhow, Thank GD for books. They never need charging 🧡 Im loving the 80‘s nostalgia #LycraAndNeonForever #OnceAnEightiesGirlAlwaysAnEightiesGirl 💘

Megabooks I am really curious about what you‘ll think of this! 2y
Cinfhen it‘s #goodnotgreat - I think I was expecting MORE - im hoping for MORE but it‘s easy to read & im all for lifelong friendships @Megabooks 2y
Megabooks @Cinfhen no! Maybe I built it up to much. Hopefully you‘ll enjoy the ending more. I found it really surprising. 2y
Cinfhen I think I got to the twist / which was surprising @Megabooks but not enough to sway my opinion 🙂I feel like in a month from now this won‘t linger but I‘m still enjoying the story when I read it ♥️ 2y

Finally getting to my first book of November!😱It‘s been chaos here in my house with first my daughter & our 1yr old grandson moving home to my tiny(it feels)house then they decided to rip out my kitchen with two days notice & have taken almost 3 weeks to replace it! It‘s still not finished😠. Now I‘ve thrown my back out on top which means bed rest(god knows how)but at least I can finally open a #NonFictionNovember read🙌 How‘s your month going?

Cinfhen Always something at your place!! I‘m listening to an awesome audiobook that made me think of you 2y
Lizpixie @Cinfhen believe me, I know🤷🏻‍♀️ I‘ve actually used my audible credit on Surrender as soon as I saw your post! #PermsandRaRaSkirts #SistaFromAnotherMista 2y
Cinfhen Woohoo #NeonAndDayGloForever 🧡💛🧡 2y
CarolynM Sounds like a trying time. Hope the kitchen is functional again soon and your back improves💕😘 2y

I cannot tell you how much I loved Duran Duran in the 80s! I still do, and I learned things both about the band as a whole and the individual members that I didn‘t already know. It‘s a well done documentation of their ups and downs. If you‘re a fan, I‘d recommend it! Of course, it made me want to cue up their Spotify playlist! 😃🎶

#bookspinbingo - got a bingo! 🥳
#booked2022 - title repeats itself
#pop22 - about a band or musical group

Chrissyreadit I totally heard the song in my head when I read the title ♥️ 3y

It‘s time for our #Top21of21
These were my favorite reads in 2021 🥳
I‘m sure tomorrow the list might look different. I think audio narration led to my further enjoyment.
I‘m tagging 10 friends and in turn hope they‘ll tag 10 friends. Would LOVE to see what books excited Littens in 2021📚
Please respond even if you‘re not tagged… it‘s always more fun when everyone joins😁
I know, I cheated a bit…but same author is reasonable 😉

Cinfhen Can you please repost @LitsyEvents 3y

merelybookish All those musician bios you read to avoid DrZ really paid off! 😄 Thanks for getting this tag going. Always fun to see the posts. 3y
Liz_M Ooft, Empire of Pain was such an infuriating read. Excellent but angry-making. 3y
Soubhiville Thank you for tagging me! Some of these are definitely on my list too. 😊. I‘m going to hold off until New Years weekend to post mine, but I‘ll tag you when I do! 3y
britt_brooke Nice picks! I‘ve read about half of these! And a couple are likely in my top of the year. Will post soon. Thanks for the tag! 😙 PS. I‘m so happy to see Beastie Boys Book in there. LOVED it! 3y
Suet624 Wait, How Beautiful We Were was in your top 21? I've been recommending that folks NOT read it. And I love how many people recommend We Begin at the End. It's a sleeper that somehow folks are reading. It hasn't received the press that it should from the media reviewers. 3y
Megabooks Gosh! 21 out of 505…that‘s going to take a minute. 😂 glad to see the Patchett there. I‘m so happy you enjoyed it. 3y
Cinfhen Yeah, I thought that might be an issue @Megabooks 😂😂 3y
Cinfhen Hahaha so funny @Suet624 I am definitely in the minority who loved the Mbue. 3y
Cinfhen I would definitely add this one too @Lizpixie 3y

Cinfhen Beastie Boys on audio was AMAZING @britt_brooke 🙌🏻‼️🙌🏻‼️🙌🏻 you‘re SO RIGHT @merelybookish some of my favorite books were discovered that week😉🎊 3y
Cinfhen It was such an eye opening read @Liz_M really infuriating!!! What a terrible legacy and way to tarnish a family name 😠😢😪 3y
Nute Fantastic reading this year. I‘m sure that Will Smith‘s book would have made my list, but I haven‘t been able to get to it yet. I am discovering so many new books because of everyone‘s choices. Reading through these posts is like a Saturday morning heavenly literary smorgasbord from some of my most favorite people on the planet! Such a delight!💕 3y

Cinfhen I‘m really excited by your list @Chelsea.Poole thanks for tagging me 🤩 3y
