Attended a fantastic author talk this evening with a friend. It featured William Kent Krueger talking about his tagged book which was selected for the local One Book One Community read this year.
I haven‘t had a chance to read this book yet, but his talk was wonderful. He also discussed his writing process and the power of stories. If you like his books and have the opportunity to see him speak in person I highly recommend it.
pickA novel that has lots of Indigenous lore sprinkled throughout it. The characters are mostly good people with a number of villains added to flesh out the story. The setting is the Upper Peninsula of Michigan. If you are a fan of William Kent Krueger and his novels, this is one you won‘t want to miss. 4.5/5

pickThis series is my happy reading place right now. These books are impossible to put down. Krueger is masterful at building tension, at putting his characters in high stakes situations where not everyone makes it out while those that do, more often than not, do so in believable ways. As always, the mystery itself is compelling but it is the characters themselves that keep you turning the pages. Another really good book in the Cork O‘Conner series.
It‘s autumn outside but it‘s the heat of July in my book. Blazing through this compelling story of the events of summer 1961 in New Bremen, Minnesota. A mystery, a coming of age tale, a historical fiction - whatever it is, I want to see where it‘s going. #hyggehourreadathon
pickPicked this up recently for $2. I enjoyed the read . Beautifully written. I was hoping that she had written more but discovered no more novels by her. I do hope it isn‘t her first and only. The story carried me along and I could see and feel the landscape and the characters were very real too. I‘m not surprised it was on the short list.

The murder mystery was good, but I hate it when the amateur sleuth solves the murder because an entire police force is incompetent (they missed not 1 but 3 key pieces of evidence). And gosh the Halloween hayride, coffee, and Halloween doughnuts were mentioned every couple of pages!
The side plot of which of my 2 boyfriends should I do a couples costume with was also annoying 😂
