Not my first WKK book and likely won't be my last but I do think editing wasn't a priority for this, and as a reader of history, and random knowledge that sticks in my head some parts of the story simply don't work for a 1958 setting. For me, that overshadowed the story and consumed my thoughts, unfortunately. This book gave me Beartown (Backman) & The Lost Man (Harper) vibes but in an American setting instead of Sweden & Australia respectively.

Save the date, #BetsyTacy fans! The next Betsy-Tacy Convention will be held this year in Mankato, MN in honor of the birthday girl, Deep Valley's Emily Webster! More information to come on speakers, workshops, and activities, but rest assured- if you've never visited Betsy's house, sat on the famous bench, or gallivanted around Lincoln Park (”that pie-shaped wedge!") - you don't want to miss this chance. #BetsyTacyAndTib #MaudHartLovelace

LeahBergen Wonderful! I visited for the first time last summer. 🥰 3w
Andrea313 @LeahBergen Did you absolutely love it? I was hooked from my very first visit! 3w

LeahBergen It was SO much fun. There was a terrifying moment when I discovered the house museums would be closed on the weekend I was there but I contacted them and ended up getting a private tour (with some other people who showed up, too). Phew! And I also managed to do some damage in the little gift shop. 😆😆 3w
Andrea313 @LeahBergen Amazing!!!! I'm so glad someone was able to come through and give the tour! ❤️ 3w
MaureenMc My daughter and I are going to try to make it! We were just talking about it again over the weekend. 🤞🤞 3w
Andrea313 @MaureenMc Amazing! Fingers crossed that we meet in Deep Valley! 🤞❤️ 3w

#12booksof2024 My first time reading this author. The writing was excellent. It had some flaws with regard to the mystery plot, but on the whole I enjoyed it. The characters were engaging and vivid, and the setting was immersive - a compelling portrait of 1960s small town Minnesota. Read with my IRL book club.

Another optional read for Christmas break before grad school starts back up. I think this is 14 in the series and like always it was the same in the right ways and yet unique in its own ways too. This one painfully looked at sex trafficking crimes involving young girls. Heart breaking. Good story concerning a painful subject.
