An examination of cunning folk in history, from their heyday to when they began to lose their influence. Cunning folk are practitioners of folk magic, which is different from witchcraft, no pact with the devil is assumed. It's a fascinating and well researched book and a must read for anyone interested in this topic.

This is a sweet cozy fantasy about 3 seer sisters who run a tearoom where they read tea leaves for their customers. Positive the tearoom and home is their future, all 3 are surprised to find themselves called to different pursuits just when it seems they most need to be united to the job of helping elder witches find their life tasks. Leans hard on the “failure to communicate” trope but is ultimately a satisfying story about finding your own path.

LeafingThroughLife Looks like this has a sequel coming out this year that I might just add to my TBR! February #doublespin #netgalley 4d

I loved this book growing up, and it definitely encouraged my ongoing love affair with alleys 😂 I hadn't read this one in several years, and it was super fun to revisit. Cleery buys a box of magic at a flea market, and accidentally magics a stuffed crow into being alive - and able to talk - but not able to fly. With an enchantment of being able to find something magical in every new alley she visits that summer, she and her best friend set off ⬇

TheAromaofBooks (cont'd) to find a cure for Crow. This is just a cute, fun book with little adventures in every chapter. Thoroughly enjoyable.

MaGoose I never read this one when I was younger. I'll have to make up for that and track down a copy, either at the library or the bookstore. Sounds very interesting. 1mo

TheAromaofBooks @tpixie - Yes!! This was published later (1970) than his books, but it has a very similar vibe. 1mo

willaful @LeahBergen @MaGoose Unfortunately, it's quite hard to find because it never made it into paperback. :-( My husband once literally xeroxed and bound it for me! Check the Internet Archive. 1mo
MaGoose @willaful Thanks, that's good to know. I'll be diligent about finding a copy. 1mo

I‘m not sure how this one got on my radar. 3 sisters are witches and run a tea shop telling their customers fortunes. They get enrolled by the head witches to help 3 witches find their task in life. They have to finish their task to not turn into ghosts once they die. The 3 sisters at the same time are following their passions but not sharing it with each other.

Got some #bookmail yesterday afternoon. Just browsing the pages and the beautiful illustrations, I know I‘m saving this book for a palette cleanse.

Absolutely enjoyed this this one!
This feels like a classic folk tale, what with Agatha having to take on missions/adventures to win favors from the Fae, intertwined into Agatha's every day life in her sleepy little village.

I truly loved the water colors and character designs. Everything was just a treat to look at. I really enjoyed Hyacinth the most and wouldn't have minded more of them.
