Grace Lin never fails to wow me with her beautiful art and excellent storytelling. In this book, she shares the “real legends, real myths, and real histories” behind a feast of Chinese dishes, as well as many cooking/serving techniques and traditions. From
her author‘s note: “Chinese American cuisine is the flavor or resilience, the flavor of adaptability, the flavor of persistence and triumph. Above anything, this food is the flavor of America.”

3.5 ⭐This book is full of questions. A child is going for a walk with their father and one question leads to another and leads to another, etc. It‘s when new words are introduced that you begin to realize that this may not be coming from your current experience. Buddha told everybody to always question. Question why things work, know that things come from one thing to another, and on and on. This book is basic beginnings questions and how things

LibrarianRyan come after each other and how ohm covers everything. Anybody could read this book and get something out of it. It does not have to be read or is not strictly for those who follow Buddha. The information about Buddha is in the very end, as a note to parents rather than part of the story which makes this book open for all. 1y

Wanted to share this fascinating and helpful diagram with you guys! ❤️ #biblebuddyread

MelAnn I find it fascinating that Leah is the one in the lineage to Christ - not Rachel. God saw her, acknowledged her & blessed her. 3y
BookBabe @MelAnn Good point, yes He did. That, and Rachel‘s coveting and stealing idols incident probably took a significant amount of blessing off her life and offspring. 3y
quirkyreader It also shows that even though Leah didn‘t feel favour in her husband‘s eyes, she found it in God‘s eyes. 3y
Butterfinger I love this conversation @quirkyreader @MelAnn I just wanted to add that Rachel wasn't forgotten because when King Herod tried to kill baby Jesus, it says Rachel wept for her children. 3y

I admire the skill and beauty with which Ayobami Adebayo has written this difficult story of human sufferings. #lineage #Layi #Olamide #Rotimi #sicklecell #pseudocyesis #impotence #booksandcoffee

Anna40 It made me think of the film Kadosh where Meir is forced to divorce his wife because even after 10 years of marriage they have no children... the book sounds heartbreaking, the film certainly was. 7y
EvieBee I really liked this one too. The audio book had gorgeous accents. Made me smile! 7y
Lesliereads @Anna40 you know what? I saw “Kadosh” - it was a while ago but you made me remember! Another good film along these lines is “Mother of George.” 7y
Lesliereads @EvieBee wow! I bet the audiobook is good! I‘ve been thinking about getting into audiobooks to give my eyes a break and experience listening to stories for a while. 7y
EvieBee Yes! It makes cooking and cleaning a delight, lol! 7y
