“…it was not until 1978 that Native Americans were allowed to practice their religious beliefs, in spite of what the First Amendment to the Constitution had guaranteed to Americans for over 200 years.
In 1978 Congress passed the American Indian Religious Freedom Act… for the first time in the 400-year history between Europeans and Native Americans, the religious practices of Native nations were not banned.”

BarbaraJean So much for “freedom of religion.” Just for the colonizers, apparently. Much like “all men are created equal” just meant white men. 😡 2d

Bass reflects on the many facets of Jesus as she shares bits from her own spiritual life. Sort of a combination of memoir, theology, and mysticism. It focuses on those experiential ways that Jesus interacts with us and guides us, leading to a more encompassing view of Jesus.

Bailedbailed

I started reading this with my Bible study group (years ago) and I kept telling myself I would pick it back up. It is a difficult read in which I would have to keep looking up words to even know what I was reading. With my busy life I need to be more realistic and decided to finally bail on picking this back up.

The soundtrack of the tagged play was released in 1970 and my dad bought the album. I was 11. Somewhere in the mid 60‘s my mother became a Seventh Day Adventist and our household drastically changed. Listening to this album constantly was an act of rebellion. She HATED it. This clip popped up on IG yesterday so I thought why not share here. I still know all the words.

@TieDyeDude

Suet624 I‘m with you. I know pretty much every word of this play. 2w
Ruthiella I am an atheist and I love this musical. Particularly the film version with Carl Anderson as Judas. What a performance ! 👏👏👏 2w
quietjenn Such a favorite! 2w
TieDyeDude My mom had the soundtrack on vinyl and CD. We didn't have to rebel to listen to it, but it's awesome that you did 😁 1w

If you have not read this book, please do me a favor and put it on your #tbr list. This book had so many laugh out loud moments for me. I read this every few years because it is so lighthearted and it pulls me out of my #thriller and #historicalfiction genres. Sometimes you just need a change and this is definitely my go-to.
