I was ecstatic when I found the local library branch was only 1 block from my new place. Getting my library card was one of the first things I did when I moved here.

MoonWitch94 I am forever jealous of folks who have great libraries. My library is a huge, beautiful building that serves my town (population 70K) and it‘s useless. They don‘t have many new releases, they only purchase one or two copies if they DO and they have a very limited ebook selection, too. All that money for nothing 😔 And if you donate books, they sell them. Not fill empty selves with books! 2y
claudiuo I live in an area that has a good library but the next county over has one of the best library systems in the country. Since I am not a resident, I pay to get access and I don't have a problem at all to do so, it is well worth. I love the selection, especially the ebooks and audiobooks. 2y
wanderinglynn @MoonWitch94 that‘s disappointing. It is a benefit to live in a large metro area. My local branch isn‘t all that big, but it‘s one of 26 branches in DC. So their catalog is rather extensive. 2y

claudiuo Also have to mention little free libraries: not the same thing as an actual library but still... 😁. I've been told I am obsessed with LFLs and I have to admit I am, I am going out of my way to find them cause they are awesome. For me they are a great way to discover books that otherwise I may not even know about; at least a third of the books I read last year came from LFLs. 2y

LibraryFairy Love the library!!! I‘m in a very large library system as well and it‘s incredible. I‘ve never not been able to find a book and over the past two years I‘ve checked out over 100. They also have really cool programs and group reads! 2y
marleed I just read last week that my library (actually reciprocal to my actual library) was the #9 in library loans through use of overdrive/Libby. Pretty cool. I utilize it every week and play this game where every time I checkout/download a library book I theoretically deduct $15 from my federal taxes. 2y
