This was an interesting book. Douglas Preston went to Florence Italy to write a fictional crime novel & ended up getting mixed up with the real monster of Florence case. A case that was compared to London's Jack the Ripper & helped inspire Thomas Harris' Hannibal.

This is the second book in the Nevernight Trilogy & it was really good. In this one Mia decides her best way to get to Scaeva & Cardinal Duomo is to sell herself to become one of the gladiatii (think Roman gladiators) & then become the champion of the games 🖤

Despite this typically being my least favorite genre, I really enjoyed it. Emily moves in with her sister after, her sister has a car accident to help take care of her and her niece. Then to make her niece happy she agrees to join a Renaissance Fair for the summer. Love and chaos ensues also hot guys dressed as pirates or in kilts 💚

Oh bother. I was sure this was out at the end of April, but apparently I‘m not to review it until the end of June. Will try again then! ARCs confuse me!

Brief version- it‘s a pick, gave me lots to think about.

This is definitely not something I would normally read but since it is the #TeamBuddyRead for #ReadNosedReindeer and my #DoubleSpin book I read it. It was okay, a tad predictable. I did like the fact that the audiobook was read by the author and it was under 6hrs.

Finally finished this book club book... it felt like it took years, but really only 5 days. It‘s not a terribly exciting story, but it is beautifully written and the audio narration is spot on. This atmospheric mystery/coming of age take is told by Nathaniel, figuring out his childhood, his mother who was some sort of secret agent during and after WWII, and what events shape us and how.
