Your kingdom is an everlasting kingdom, and your dominion endures through all generations.

Every time I feel lonely or need a little extra boost of courage I pull out a god book and dive in. I get uplifted and the encouragement I‘m looking for. God is good all the time. This is a good read. If you want to feel close to god, definitely pick this book up and give it a read.

Father, We Thank You | Ralph Waldo Emerson

We are reading Emerson right now in my 11th grade co-taught English class. I bought this book of his poem, “ Father, We Thank You” because its impressionist style illustrations are quietly beautiful.

The Shack. Film Tie-In | William P. Young

4-28-24: My 11th finished book of 2024! The Shack is very religious which I am not. I put that aside to look under that layer to see a family in turmoil. A father on a camping trip with 3 of his children saves one while another is taken. Four years later, Mack, the father, receives a note, from God, to meet him at the shack where the scene of the crime occurred. What a weekend Mack had at that Shack. The beauty and compassion he is shown save him.

The Holiness of God | R. C. Sproul

“If we fix our minds on the holiness of God, the result might be disturbing.” I think Sproul was right. It‘s a heavy topic. But after a break, I‘m back into this book and looking forward to our next study group discussion. #readmorebooks #nonfiction #imlovingit

Pretty good book that reminded me of the comedy style of Monty Python. Definitely had some good laughs.

I can‘t believe it‘s already APRIL! I am so sorry, #deadphilosopherssociety! I‘m not sure how many of your have read God is Not Great by Christopher Hitchens and God is Not One by Stephen Prothero, but I was thinking these would make great conversations for our group (we tend to go in these directions occasionally anyway). Determined by Robert Saplosky about free will is also out now. We talked about reading that when it came out.

GingerAntics If anyone wants in or out… or has any other book ideas, let me know! 1mo
Chrissyreadit i think i‘m interested in God is not one based on your review but wonder if anyone is interested in 1mo

Chrissyreadit or a book that explores not God? 1mo
kspenmoll God is not one sounds interesting. 1mo
kspenmoll I have a book in my TBR have been wanting to read & might inspire discussion 1mo
kspenmoll I the author writes about Mary Astell, Damaris Masham, Mary Wollstonecraft & Catherine Cockburn. The only woman I know is MW. @Chrissyreadit @TheBookHippie @ravenlee @JaclynW @RavenLovelyReads @bnp @AlaSkaat (edited) 1mo
kspenmoll @Chrissyreadit I read When God was a Woman ages ago- would love to reread as I seem to have a blank space in my brain regarding that book. I re remember I learned so much from the book though. 1mo
GingerAntics @Chrissyreadit that‘s in my reading list. I had a feeling that would be quite popular with this group. 1mo
GingerAntics @kspenmoll I‘m always a little leery about “we all used to be matriarchal… and then the patriarchy.” That book does look intriguing, though. 1mo
kspenmoll @GingerAntics It was written in 1978, a time when I was reading feminist literature- much in history/philosophy/politics has changed since then. (edited) 1mo
GingerAntics @kspenmoll @Chrissyreadit not gonna lie, the more time away from “God is Not One,” the more I dislike it. If you‘re not some religion that you call a religion, he‘s against you and all the nice things he says don‘t apply to you. God is Not Great at least had an internal consistency in that regard. 1mo
GingerAntics @kspenmoll that‘s why I‘m a little nervous about that, but when has that ever stopped me from reading a book? lol That was the origin of “we all used to be matriarchies… please ignore all the evidence and the utter lack of evidence that that was the case because men” started and I just have no time for it. (edited) 1mo
kspenmoll @Chrissyreadit My husband may have the CH book-there was a time he read his books. I will check 1mo
kspenmoll I did not realize you had read it - CH ‘s book You would not mind reading again? See we are discussing the books already! 😉 1mo
GingerAntics @kspenmoll see, I knew they would spark discussion. 🤣 I read Hitchens right before I read Prothero. I could see reading them both again together, but Prothero just doesn‘t sit right with me alone. I had more books of his to read, and I‘m not sure I‘m ever actually going to read them now. 1mo
TheBookHippie I‘ll read anything! I miss our group! 1mo
ravenlee I meant to come back to this after checking some things….and then forgot 🤦🏻‍♀️. I‘m up for a reread of the Hitchens, as it‘s been over a decade since I read it. I found the Prothero ok but wouldn‘t revisit it; however the tagged was very good (also over a decade ago). I passed it around my bookseller coworkers for the religious literacy test alone and we had some great discussions. 4w
GingerAntics @ravenlee totally understand! I have religious literacy, but wasn‘t sure about it after God is Not One. 2w

God Emperor of Dune | Frank Herbert

The best book of the dune series, there I said it. This has to be one of the weirdest pieces of media out there that somehow still manages to completely make sense. Join us on our podcast to discuss of the most infamously strange, thought-provoking, comedically hilarious, gory and overly sexual books I have ever read - Mind Duck Books Podcast ep. 66: https://bit.ly/3IZR4Xi

Still under the weather (but starting some new drugs today) which probably isn‘t helping my emotional state which is currently very sad. I lost my Max last year on this date & I can‘t believe it‘s been a whole year without him. I still miss him every day. Giving him a shoutout on Litsy today since he had lots of friends here.

Please give your cats & other fur babies some love today from me & Max.🐱💔
