This is an extraordinary book. I say that as someone who has had very little to do with writing it. All I did, really, was “show up,“ ask a few questions, then take dictation. This book has been on the New York Times bestseller list for 91 weeks,This book took years to write. It did not come easily
if there is anything relatable about standing your ground and being a good person in the bad world, perhaps it is that such people see beauty all around them. So, if you see beauty in everything you realize that, in essence, all of Life is a conversation with God. When people remember that and attribute their success to the owner of the Universe (who they think is God) it's easier to be grateful even. Who knows its divine timing almost.

Every time I feel lonely or need a little extra boost of courage I pull out a god book and dive in. I get uplifted and the encouragement I‘m looking for. God is good all the time. This is a good read. If you want to feel close to god, definitely pick this book up and give it a read.
pickWe are reading Emerson right now in my 11th grade co-taught English class. I bought this book of his poem, “ Father, We Thank You” because its impressionist style illustrations are quietly beautiful.

so-so4-28-24: My 11th finished book of 2024! The Shack is very religious which I am not. I put that aside to look under that layer to see a family in turmoil. A father on a camping trip with 3 of his children saves one while another is taken. Four years later, Mack, the father, receives a note, from God, to meet him at the shack where the scene of the crime occurred. What a weekend Mack had at that Shack. The beauty and compassion he is shown save him.
“If we fix our minds on the holiness of God, the result might be disturbing.” I think Sproul was right. It‘s a heavy topic. But after a break, I‘m back into this book and looking forward to our next study group discussion. #readmorebooks #nonfiction #imlovingit
