Sourcery | Terry Pratchett

Mehso-so

When sourcery returns to the Disc, & throws the wizards all into chaos, what is a cowardly Rincewind to do but put together a ragtag group to maybe save the world? Or run away, one of the two.

A bit of a slow start, & a rushed/abrupt ending, but fun exploring the Disc anyway. I really found myself charmed by the side characters, & laughing at the cameos towards the end. Though I had hoped for more between Coin & Rincewind. 🌕🌕🌕🌗🌑

Ruthiella I‘ve only read the first two books featuring Rincewind but apparently he inadvertently saves the world fairly often. 😂 8mo

The life of Terry Pratchett, written by his longtime personal assistant and friend, Rob Wilkins.

This was so perfect. It was a heartbreaking joy to learn more about the man whose writing changed my life. His background, his inspirations, his dedication to writing. & it‘s nice to know that he appears to be as genuine & good hearted as I thought he‘d be. #GNUTerryPratchett #OokBOokClub 🌕🌕🌕🌕🌗

This is definitely a biography which can be called Pratchettian. Wilkins used the notes of Terry and his own memories to write the biography in style of Pratchett - meaning a good lot of laughs and me crying in the end (because we all know the sad ending). I actually always thought there will be time to meet my favourite author, till there was no time anymore. 😓 #gnuterrypratchett #speakhisname

Ever since I am back in Europe, I did not have time to start reading again. But I am using my 1,5 hour daily commute to start hearing all the books on my reading list. Right now I am browsing through everything Pratchetty like his biography. 😊

julesG 1.5h commute sounds awful, but it offers audiobook time. The #OokBOokClub is reading the biography early next year. 2y
Ruthiella Back when I lived in a city with good public transportation, I read on the train/tram/bus all the time. 👍 2y

MariaW @Ruthiella Unfortunately, I have to take the car. 🙈 2y

Thanks so much to @BookInMyHands for the great #audiobook recommendation! This is my first foray into the world of Terry Pratchett and Discworld and I thoroughly enjoyed it. So many funny moments and I definitely plan on continuing with the series. 4.25⭐️

BookInMyHands Yay! The last book of the Tiffany Aching series was the last book he wrote. I‘ll tell you now that it‘s a beautiful goodbye 😭💕 3y
MariaW You should go on with exploring the Discworld. It is amazing. 😊 #gnuterrypratchett #speakhisname 3y

A philosophical commentary on religion, faith & society/community with loads of humor.

So far this is my 4th Discworld book. Of the 4 books I think this one could be read at any point in the series because no character that I know of is a repeat so far but a short appearance by Death.

The God Om wakes up in the body of a tortoise & wants to find out why and Brutha attempts to find truth in religion. This alone 😂

Though provoking!

Can Captain Sam Vimes protect his own timeline when he‘s thrown back 30 years into the past as a serial killer wreaks havoc?

This is an intense and timely (😅) read. Time travel shenanigans. Revolution. Corruption. And police brutality.

The whole story of Vimes‘s attempts to change the future is a story of enduring hope, even in the face of overwhelming hardship and pushback. And is one of the reasons Vimes is one of my favorites. 🌕🌕🌕🌕🌗

Lucy_Anywhere This is possibly my favourite of all the Discworld novels! 4y

A very fitting end to the Discworld series but I do NOT recommend reading Chapter 2 in public or anywhere there are not plenty of tissues available
