Alright @jpmcwisemorgan and other #LitsyAfterDark #FreakyFriendsForever. I was VERY bored before the convention opened this morning and made you all a book cover. 😂😂😂😂😂 This was the only picture where I wasn't laughing too hard to stand up. The dinosaur was a very good sport about the whole thing. 🦖❤👧

LibrarianRyan 🤣😂🤣😂🤣😂 6y

The Art of the Tingle | Chuck Tingle
post image

Ok, so Tingle is at it again. Also, it‘s probably time for another #LitsyAfterDark read because as @GondorGirl has pointed out, there‘s a need for some ridiculousness. Any thoughts on what we might want to read? Where are my #FreakyFriendsForever?

teafetish I follow Chuck tingle in Twitter... he's a hoot! 6y

LibrarianRyan Did you know Tingler managed to get nominated for a (Edgar?) award. I was reading about how they needed to redo how the awards are chosen because the system could be gamed. 6y
jpmcwisemorgan @LibrarianRyan What? He did? How? For which story? OMG! 6y
LibrarianRyan @jpmcwisemorgan let me see if I can find. It was a brief mention on of of many articles about the problems with the Edgar awards. 6y
LibrarianRyan @jpmcwisemorgan wrong award. It was a Hugo award. And he got nominated. I think “No Winner” actually won. 6y
LibrarianRyan @jpmcwisemorgan this is not the original articles I read but it is decent and describes what happened. I fell down this hole a week or so ago. https://www.latimes.com/books/jacketcopy/la-et-jc-hugos-puppies-20160427-snap-ht... 6y
jpmcwisemorgan @LibrarianRyan He‘s been nominated before, though. 6y
LibrarianRyan @jpmcwisemorgan yes. He has. He does write popular ebooks. 6y
GondorGirl @LibrarianRyan I'm not surprised, really. Even though his books are completely ridiculous, they're honestly rather well written... which adds further fire to the speculation that's he's really Patrick Rothfuss and Neil Gaiman getting drunk and writing together over skype. 6y
jpmcwisemorgan @GondorGirl @LibrarianRyan Ha! That would be awesome. 6y
ReadingsByTheC @GondorGirl Yes! When I read the first book I totally thought, this is Neil Gaiman having fun with us. 6y
LibrarianRyan @GondorGirl I had never heard that. That would be awesome. 6y

OMG! This just went #LitsyAfterDark with sex against a window! 😮

Erinsuereads Ha!! It is called bone to pick 6y
jpmcwisemorgan @ErinSueG True. The title fits this story in more ways than one. 😉 6y
Erinsuereads #Litsyafterdark is my favorite hashtag because of all the lewd comments and thinly veiled references ✔️✔️✔️🔥🔥🔥💯💯💯😂😂😂 6y

jpmcwisemorgan @ErinSueG Yes, and #FreakyFriendsForever. I used both when I read Chuck Tingle‘s Dinosaur Tinglers. I‘m contemplating another Tingle reading session. 😁 6y
Erinsuereads THAT WAS YOUR POST WASNT IT!!! Oh that one was my favorite ever. I remember that one from ages back! 6y
jpmcwisemorgan @ErinSueG The Tingler posts were mostly mine, I think, but there were other brave souls who went down a #dinohole before me. 6y
Erinsuereads So damn funny 😂😂😂 6y
jpmcwisemorgan @ErinSueG This is only encouraging me to read more Tingle..... 6y
Erinsuereads I think you should aggressively tingle 6y
GondorGirl We should probably do another #LitsyAfterDark read. I could use something ridiculous in my life. 6y
jpmcwisemorgan @GondorGirl I‘m contemplating it. I‘ll see if I can round up some suggestions. I‘ll make a post! 6y
jpmcwisemorgan @ErinSueG I‘ve posted about possibly running another #LitsyAfterDark read - nominations are welcome. 6y

All y‘all! How could Chuck Tingle not be more popular? This was a good year with #LitsyAfterDark & #FreakyFriendsForever. I wonder what 2019 will bring? I didn‘t finish #FowlADay and that‘s on my list for 2019. 😬😀

KrystleTheBookSlayer Oh my gosh, I forgot to add my Chuck Tingle reads to my goodreads count! 😂😂😂 6y
jpmcwisemorgan @KrystleTheBookSlayer 😮 Poor Chuck, being forgotten. 😉 6y
GondorGirl 🦕🦖😂😂😂😂😂😂 6y
LibrarianRyan I didn‘t finish #fouladay either and it was my challenge. 🤦🏼‍♀️🤦🏼‍♀️🤦🏼‍♀️🤦🏼‍♀️ 6y

Okey dokey because #dicksoapgate is a thing and some of us haven‘t read the source material I‘m proposing a #LitsyAfterDark read-along starting on Monday. We can try book one and see where that gets us. I apparently have all three ebooks so I‘m up for the entire series. Anyone else up for this?

And for your reading pleasure - https://electricliterature.com/young-adult-novel-twitter-is-losing-its-absolute-...

DGRachel I am so down for this! #freakyfriendsforever 6y
Julsmarshall Thanks for sharing the link. I‘ve been working a lot and missed it. Too funny! 6y
sprainedbrain I‘ve already read (and loved) the series in the last year, or I would totally join you. Thanks for sharing the article though... I‘m rolling! ‘PLEASE DO NOT F*** THE SOAP.‘ 🤣🤣🤣 6y

Owlizabeth It‘s times like these that I wonder if I‘m happy or sad that I don‘t Twitter... 6y
jpmcwisemorgan @sprainedbrain You can join in on our discussions! @Owlizabeth Sometimes I wonder this too but then there‘s fun stuff so.... 6y
TsundokuAleax This is hilarious. Having read the books, I am surprised this did not happen sooner. No one should be surprised by any of this. The fandom jokes about wing span all the time. I will happily join in for commenting on this though. 6y
LibrarianRyan I will try. I too own the series and was flabbergasted at what was sent in the box. No taste what so ever. I would have been demanding my money back. Actually it‘s the borderline erotica has made it so hard for me to start these books. I used to professionally review erotica (yes I have read a lot) and thinking about it with teenagers kind of turns me off. But I‘ll try. 6y
julesG I'm in. Thanks for organizing this. 6y
jpmcwisemorgan @LibrarianRyan I‘d like to know more about the controversy so I‘m going to try the books. I‘m not sure how this will go. I‘m a little concerned because I think the series might have been on a list I sent a friend. I told her I hadn‘t read any of the books on the list but that many came highly recommended. It was over a year ago and now I can‘t remember! 6y
jpmcwisemorgan @julesG I‘m going to look at the book today and see how to break it down. 6y
DGRachel @jpmcwisemorgan I just discovered that I actually own Kindle editions of the first two books, so I‘m definitely on board. Book three is only $7.49, but I think I‘ll wait and see how the first two go before I throw that money at Amazon. I‘m ridiculously excited about this. 🤣🤣 6y
LibrarianRyan @jpmcwisemorgan I bought the first book for my library when it came out. But my library also had a YT and a YA section and parents and kids alike were told red YA books are high school and above so read at your own risk. (We never say no but parents have been warned). It has a massive following and I own the first book as well as the first 3 book of the original series. I was intending to read them but the more hyped the less I want to crack 📖 6y

#LitsyPSA: So Twitter is at it again with #dicksoapgate. It started in YA Twitter and has now spread to Romancelandia. It took me forever to figure out what was going on because I only saw vague tweets about soap that was shaped like a penis. Honestly, bookish Twitter is fascinating. #LitsyAfterDark #FreakyFriendsForever

DGRachel I have thoughts on this, but they‘re probably best kept to myself. SMH 6y
BooksTeasAndBookishThings I mean, if you didn‘t get the soap, you have no reason to be angry, if you bought this because you love the series, you are no stranger to sex, but, that being said, they should have offered a pg option or an r rated option. I can‘t imagine ever using that soap myself, but I wouldn‘t be making such waves when it was meant as a joke and anyone who has read the books is probably not THAT offended. 6y
jpmcwisemorgan @DGRachel I have all sorts of thoughts on it and I see @BooksTeasAndBookishThings point but there are quite a few good points made in Twitter, including selling fanfic (that‘s what came in the box) and how adults sexualize a lot of things in various fandoms. I see a lot of the latter discussion outside of this box so I get where that argument is coming from too. The box was sold as an adult box, I think??? 6y
See All 21 Comments
BooksTeasAndBookishThings If there is sex in the books, I don‘t see it being an issue, for those books that are PG, then absolutely. 6y
DuckOfDoom I am astonished that this box exists. Why? 😂 I wanna now the story from the beginning 6y
DGRachel Who is the SJM referred to in the tweet, Sarah J. Maas? 6y
GondorGirl Those books shouldn't be considered YA. And the book box should have definitely given the box a rating. But, personally, I think it's hilarious and fitting for those books. 6y
jpmcwisemorgan @DuckOfDoom I mean, clearly there a market for it. @DGRachel Yes, it refers to Maas. I haven‘t looked to see if she or her publisher have commented. I‘d be most concerned about the fanfic part because that typically flies under the radar until you do something to make it super obvious. @GondorGirl I don‘t think fans mind and I thought I saw the box was rated but I came to all this with vague tweets about the soap so I‘m still learning. 6y
jpmcwisemorgan @BooksTeasAndBookishThings There‘s a tendency to sexualize characters in pretty much every fandom I‘ve seen, including Disney Princesses. That‘s where some of the discussion is that I saw. If you have a kid that‘s really into something I guarantee you there is NSFW art/fic and it‘s not always labeled. That part of the discussion is interesting to me. I‘m mostly to each his own but it doesn‘t hurt to label. 6y
BooksTeasAndBookishThings I can definitely agree with that, but my problem is that people use other examples to be able to rage against this. For this particular book/series, there is absolutely no one that reads it and would call it PG or PG-13, so... while I agree for other fandoms that are made into more adult situations and fanfic, this is not one of those times. I just feel like people always want something to be angry about which is so eye roll inducing sometimes. 😕 6y
jpmcwisemorgan @BooksTeasAndBookishThings That‘s actually how it came to my attention - an author I follow who is always angry about something. I usually just take them with a grain of salt but then it started popping up everywhere on my Twitter feed and so then it was harder to ignore. 6y
BooksTeasAndBookishThings It drives me nuts, sometimes it just feels like angry people attract more angry people. I just don‘t want or need that in my life lol I think most of the women who got that box laughed and then thought, “A great bachelorette gift”, or “Hilarious, totally displaying this”, or “Yeah, that is going to be posted for sale”, but I doubt most of them really cared at all. Maybe a few, but I imagine most thought it was funny. Especially given the name ofit 6y
CouronneDhiver I probably should be offended but I just can‘t quit giggling about the whole thing. Dick soap?! 😂😂😂 Too much! 6y
jpmcwisemorgan @BooksTeasAndBookishThings I probably shouldn‘t follow the author anymore and I‘ve considered it several times but when they start vague-tweeting something‘s up. I have to figure out what their vague crap means but it‘s like a little mystery and sometimes it‘s something really big or it‘s penis shaped soap. 🤷‍♀️ 6y
jpmcwisemorgan @CouronneDhiver I would hope that the people who ordered the box knew it was an “adult” box. As a teen I would have found the soap hilarious but now I‘m more eh, ok. I don‘t find the stuff in the box personally offensive but I do wonder sometimes about the thought process behind something. I like to watch bookish Twitter because I learn A LOT. 6y
CouronneDhiver Oh I‘ll give you that much - classy move? Definitely not. Seems like something a disgruntled employee would come up with. 6y
BooksTeasAndBookishThings Haha I mean, the idea itself is an oxymoron. You think dick: dirty, soap: clean. 6y
LibrarianRyan I have a few problems with this. I actually have another bar of Dick soap (it‘s pink) that I got from an author at Penned Con 2017. My friend and I laughed uproariously about it with the author. But once again it was the author handing it out. I‘m all about reading and liking what you want it‘s just older individuals fetishizing teenagers reminds me of pedophilia. Do t even get me started on the NA thing. It just annoys me to no end. 6y
jpmcwisemorgan @LibrarianRyan I‘m worried about the fetishizing/sexualizing part of the argument. A lot of people were meh on the whole thing but when people did comment seriously it was about that or selling fanfic. I‘m doing this for science. Also, I have a lot of teens in my life and I try to make good recommendations for books and I‘m worried that this series might not be ok for them. 6y
LibrarianRyan @jpmcwisemorgan I agree. And I also agree with the vast spreading of Dan fic. It reeks of copyright infringement. 6y
jpmcwisemorgan @LibrarianRyan There are authors who support fanfic, some even write it (or have in the past). What I‘ve seen have said great, but I don‘t want to see it because it can cause problems. I follow one author who regularly shares fanfic unreleased to their work. I think it becomes more of an issue when you try to sell it. There‘s a little bit of “fly under the radar” with fanfic. 6y
