". . . others looked to the paintings as beacons of hope because they showed that the human struggle is endless and universal. " Really enjoyed this engaging story of stolen art and family secrets intertwined with amazing descriptions of food created by a struggling young chef caught in the middle of it all. Wikipedia image is of Watteau's "The Love Lesson." #foodiebooks #art #LivingForLove #Movember @Cinfhen

#Aprella #NewYork 🍎I love foodie books, I love New York, I love foodie novels set in New York. (Apparently I love them so much I used 3 of these titles before in a New York musical prompt--but since it was 10 months ago & I had already made the collage when I remembered, I'm going with it!) 😆👍

I read, enjoyed & got hungry over these 9 foodie fiction books all set, or mostly set, in The Big Apple. 🍎🍏🍎#foodiebooks

Reviewsbylola Wow, great list!! 7y
Mdargusch I had no idea there were so many. Which one is your favorite? 7y

Pickpick

I finally managed to read for 30 minutes & finish a book last night without falling asleep! 🎉📚Hopefully on my way out of the reading slump my January brought. This is a typical Colgan--sweet, mostly light, a bit predictable...but a great feel-good palate cleanser that will make you want to open a bakery in a quirky London neighborhood, have a flat with a pink kitchen & definitely make you crave cupcakes.😋Lots of recipes included. #foodiebooks

Isn't the best #bookmail unsolicited book mail?! Like when you get home after a long day & find the unexpected treat of a new novel from one of your favorite foodie authors in your mailbox, sent from the publisher. Recipes included. 😋🍴Thank you @penguinrandomhouse ! 💜📚💜 I am excited to read this one! #foodiebooks

Day 18 #JubilantJuly #Journey I am a fan of the foodie journey--memoirs about finding yourself through food and cooking--especially when they involve women traveling the world and experiencing different cultures through food. Here are six favorite foodie journeys by female authors from my stacks. #foodiebooks 🍴📚💜

[DELETED] 3803335244 I like this! I definitely have a food journey! 7y
Maggie4483 I took a class in college called "Women, Life-Writing, and Food" and this is all we read. It was my favorite class of my entire college career. 7y
DebinHawaii @ForeverNerdy I have one every day! Hah! 😋🍴👍 @Maggie What an awesome class. I would love it! ❤️🍴📚What was your favorite book from it? 7y

Maggie4483 @DebinHawaii we read both books that became the movie Julie and Julia (My Life in France by Julia Child and Julie and Julia by Julie Powell)-probably at about the same time they were making that movie. I actually liked Powell's autobiography more. I also highly recommend: 7y
DebinHawaii @Maggie I've read both Powell's book and My Life in France and I keep meaning to read Bento Box in the Heartland. I'll have to move it up the #TBR list now. Thanks for the suggestion. 😀🍴📚👍 7y
ValerieAndBooks Do you like MFK Fisher? I do, and have almost all her books, although I haven't read her in years. I have her (non-foodie, I think) novel, recently published, in my TBR: 7y
DebinHawaii @ValerieAndBooks I do like her writing but I have only read her How to Cook a Wolf and The Art of Eating books, plus a lot of her essays that have appeared in other places. I did hear about the novel but have not read it yet. 👍📚 7y
Herschelian Loved the Mahdur Jaffrey memoir ‘Climbing the Mango Tree‘, very charming descriptions of an Indian childhood between the wars. 7y

Day 11 #JuneBookBugs #Life Since I used culinary cozies for yesterday's 'death' prompt, I thought it would be fun to keep to foodie books today. 'Life' is a popular word in foodie memoir titles. Here are seven from both my #read & #TBR stacks. I'll tag them below in comments since some of the authors are cropped off the covers. #foodiebooks #foodiememoir 🍴📚🥐🍷💜

Day 10 #junebookbugs #death I think culinary cozy mysteries have the best titles. Here's a bunch from my stacks & #TBR with 'death' in them--title & story of course. 😆👍 'A Batter of Life and Death' is my favorite--Ellie Alexander has clever book titles & it's a fun series set in a bakery in Ashland, Oregon. #cozymystery #foodiebooks 🍴📚

mcipher I love punny cozy titles so much!! 7y
drokka There are a couple here I haven't got. 😂 7y

Crescent: A Novel | Diana Abu-Jaber

I was catching up on email tonight and noticed that the e-book of this foodie novel is on sale for $1.99 Amazon, B &N, Apple, Google & Kobo. If you like foodie fiction, this one is set in L.A. but features Iraqi-Americans & immigrants, academia, a chef & plenty of delicious food. It's romance, but more literary. I recommend it! The author's other books are also great. #foodiefiction #foodiebooks 🍴📚👍

Cinfhen Thanks for the heads up! I'm going to put it on my list. 7y
DebinHawaii @Cinfhen My pleasure! I know how much you need books for your TBR list! 😂👍📚📚📚📚📚 7y

#RockinMay #newyorkminute New York is one of my favorite cities to visit and favorite foodie cities to eat in so here are three fun foodie novels set, or mostly set there. All of them had characters with lives that changed in New York and all inspired delicious dishes when I read and reviewed them. #foodiebooks #litsycooks ❤️🍎🏙

DebinHawaii @Cinfhen It was a recreation of a massaged kale salad with currants, pine nuts & Parmesan. Really good! 😋🍴 Here's a link to the recipe: http://kahakaikitchen.blogspot.com/2014/04/the-book-tour-stops-here-delicious.ht... 8y
Cinfhen Thanks so much!!!! 8y
Smashlee I'm intrigued by the Wedding Bees...my dad is a beekeeper. Is it a recipe book or a story with recipes? 8y
DebinHawaii @Smashlee It's a foodie novel about a southern woman who keeps bees and moves to NYC. No recipes but plenty of food mentions and inspiration in the story. 8y
Smashlee Good enough for me to add to my stack 😊 8y
SaraFair I have Delicious in my stack cause I loved Reichl book I read last year. Gonna add these others! 7y
