Another 1000+ pages - 48 hours on the audiobook - in to the Stormlight Archive, and I am loving every minute!
The fact that this world is so full, the characters so real, and the whole experience so accessible - it‘s just incredible.

Jasnah Kholin pretended to enjoy the party, giving no indication that she intended to have one of the guests killed.

Such a good book in development of the characters and plot! It had its highs and revelations! And its lows and inner turmoil for the main characters. It even opened a lot of questions that I hope the next book in the series will answer.
I listened to the audiobook (49 hours), but sooo worth it! The two narrators do a superb job reading!
I have so many books I could discuss… besides the tagged one other would be “The History of Psychology” what would yours be? Let me know 🤗📚
Necromancy, flying machines, magic, spies, & runaways form the core of this fantasy import from South Korea. The first of 3 planned books, it‘s a story of rebellion against an imperial empire told from 3 POVs. Hur‘s translation is, as always, fantastic & once you settle into the rhythm & feel of Korean translated into English, this one moves along nicely. Interesting world building which I hope to see developed even more in the future. Good read.
Starting an epic fantasy from South Korea today. This book, originally the first of three planned volumes, came out almost a decade ago but the other two, only one of which was actually written, were never published. Fast forward a few years and Tor discovers the book and decides to publish all three. I‘ve read a lot of literature from South Korea but this will be the first fantasy. Excited to dive in.
(Love the cover!)
Reread complete! One of my very favorite books and just as good on reread. I‘ll continue my reread of the series with Oathbringer next month. 5⭐️
#doublespin done!
Great debut.
2 MCs (Kevah & Micah) recounting their stories in 1st person dedicated alternating chapters.
Micah is a monster. Just my current opinion. He‘s still a great character.
We have warring nations.
Two men are missing part of their heart, figuratively. Each blames the other for their loss & is looking for a crusade kinda justice at a nationwide level!
So many trigger warnings. It‘s really dark. Consider yourself warned.
