#BasedOnTrueStory Spent my birthday exploring nearby Dayton Tennessee, site of the famous trial which found John T. Scopes guilty of illegally teaching evolution in 1925. A cautionary tale where too much sounds too familiar today. Drove by the courthouse and found this charming shop (Pizza, Books, & Ice Cream). #Aboutabook @Eggs @Alwaysbeenaloverofbooks

Eggs Lovely photos! A few years back I attended the play performed in a county courthouse - so amazing 4mo

Bill Nye for the win!
It was funny, educational, and necessary for our times.
#2023readingbracket

TLuvs I love this bracket idea! Did you pull a blank template of the internet and then plug in your book choices? 2y
BethM I read this a few years ago and liked it! 2y
Sharpeipup @tluvs I cannot take credit for the bracket. The praise belongs to @chasjjlee 2y

AllDebooks Yay 🙌 Did you enjoy it? I have this biography to read, somewhere 2y
jenniferw88 @AllDebooks it's OK, was getting a bit slow towards the end - it definitely could be edited down a bit! 2y

Darwin visited the Tierra del Fuego archipelago whilst on HMS Beagle, which does #argentina for #readingtheamericas2023 @Librarybelle

#doublespin for February read! @TheAromaofBooks

I won't be reading Darwin's autobiography after reading this - it's apparently full of inaccuracies.

TheAromaofBooks Great progress!! 2y
Librarybelle Interesting to note about Darwin‘s autobiography! 2y
jenniferw88 @Librarybelle basically he doesn't credit any of his predecessors/contemporaries - including his own grandfather (!) - on helping him come up with the theory of evolution. It's 'MY theory this' & 'MY theory that'. He does acknowledge that both Alfred Russel Wallace & he did come up with the idea independently of each other though, so that's something! 😂 @AllDebooks 2y

AllDebooks @jenniferw88 I don't suppose there was any way he could deny ARW's work😅 2y
Librarybelle Wow! Totally did not know that! 2y
