The Cuckoo's Calling | Robert Galbraith

I‘m not quite sure why the title but it‘s about the death of one of 3 adopted children who was a supermodel and her brother‘s convinced she was murdered so he asks Cormoran Strike, a childhood friend of his brother, to investigate. I‘m 3 chapters from the end and I have a suspect in mind … but we‘ll see if I‘m right.
It‘s not overused and is in context - I suppose - but I wish there was less swearing by the characters.

humouress Well,I guessed wrong. I had considered the culprit but dismissed them. 4w
humouress This is the cover from my e-library book. They must be the actors from the TV series (there‘s a TV series?) but I feel that Strike isn‘t depicted as large or as battered as he‘s written,, 4w

My October stats. The holidays are coming which means Christmas reads so I'm expecting vastly different numbers in a month lol.
My average time to finish is skewed because it took me so long to finish the newest Robert Galbraith novel, a #chunkster at over 900 pages. #chunksterchallenge2024

My #roll100 for November with @PuddleJumper laughing so hard that two books from the same series got picked, even with the numbers being so far apart!

This is my favorite book of the series thus far. The author must have done a deep dive on how cults operate because it really felt accurate. Reminded me of so many cult stories I‘ve heard but was even more intriguing with having Robin inside, investigating the cult. Well done!

The latest in the Cormoran Strike series. Still working my way through this behemoth and it came out last fall.

I like how even minor characters are given their chance to shine in these crime novels. The dialogue always provides character development and it‘s fun to see Strike grapple with his own morals and ethics. Book 3 will be on the horizon for me.

The Ink Black Heart is the sixth installment of the Cormoran Strike series. Robin and Strike investigate the death of cartoon co-creator, Edie Ledwell. This is my least favorite book in the series. I don‘t care for cartoons and there was a lot of online dialoge I find painful to listen to in an audiobook format. Fortunately, I enjoyed other aspects of the story very much. It‘s a low pick for me.

1st book of May is finished! I started this one a few months ago and lost interest about 1/3 in, but my daughter persuaded me to give it another go as it gets better after Part3. Well, she was right! Robin is sent undercover to a cult accused of brainwashing people but finds a much darker story. Reminded me a lot of both Scientology & David Koresh at Waco. Recommend. #SeriesLove2024

My #library has more donations than we‘ll ever sell at our booksale and since we‘re going to be having an #alteredbook contest this summer, I made an example. Everything is made from the book, except the mini book covers, which I printed out, and the little paintings, which I printed out and glued onto some plastic buttons I had laying around. And since it‘s a Strike book, I was able to sneak my signature in it 🥸
