Trying to catch up on all my #NFNov reviews before the frenzy of #WinterGames tomorrow!
I adore Fry, and his audiobooks are delightful, so this was just as expected. :)

A friend of mine sent me this today. I thought I'd share. Stephen fry on what makes us human:

Sometimes you just find what you‘re looking for even tho you‘re not really looking. #cliches #SpringIntoReading
If I wasn‘t reading this book for my dad, I‘d probably put it down. I really want to like it, but Lila is annoying the shit out of me.
A love triangle, a girl that is ~magical~ and powerful with no proper training and a great thief... then her captain is okay with her sabotaging him?!!
Lila is a shining example on why I stopped reading YA... and this isn‘t even YA (technically).

There's a bird on the cover, does that count?
This was a painfully dull book to work through. There is no question that public language could be decaying but Don does no justice to his argument, because in fact he doesn‘t actually argue his point, the whole book is just one giant whinge about his personal gripe with the current state of public language of which he when referring to politicians as “pollies” is himself a perpetrator. (2/5)
And I‘m DNFING it. The 198 pages I‘ve read feel like a teenage boys fantasy. Super smart and unhappy ✅ happy when they find out they are special? ✅ “oh wow the monster was because of me?!?” ✅ Already a member of an elite society, becomes even more elite ✅ don‘t know what type of powers he possesses ✅
I can‘t do it ya‘ll. Also, this is nothing like HP. #DNF #cliches
I'm fascinated by language: who better to listen to about metaphor, cliché, puns and quotes than the charming and erudite Stephen Fry?
(I wish I could recall which Litten got me into audiobooks, and thus audio-housework. I am maintaining a minimum level of passive-aggressive pan-bashing, however: I wouldn't want anyone entertaining misguided notions of my 'not minding'. 😉)
So what happened in the Chateau? Well... pretty much nothing. Read about it more here, and I promise it's #funny:
