Paris: The Novel | Edward Rutherfurd
post image

This saga brings life to Paris from the 1200‘s to the 1800‘s through the eyes of 6 families. The story is compelling and so is the history.
It reminds me of Ken‘s Follet‘s Kingsbridge Trilogy, beginning with The Pillars of the Earth 👇
#Paris 🇫🇷

tpixie He‘s also written sagas about China, London, Ireland, Russia, The New Forest (which we read about with #ChildrensClassicRead2021), & Sarum- about English history from its beginnings in the Ice Age to present day. (edited) 2y

Is there any better way to begin a story than with the phrase “Once upon a time?” I love stories that begin like that and this one was no exception. Add the brilliant artwork and reading this book was a wonderful way to start my year! I was meant to read it in December for the #ChildrensClassicRead2021, but I wound up late to the party. Better late than never! 5/5⭐️

Beautiful illustrations added to the enjoyment of this classic children‘s Russian folk tale that was new to me. Some elements reminiscent of Cinderella and Hansel and Gretel. Love that the deceased Mother left her child some magic to protect her. #childrensclassicread2021

I enjoyed this Russian fairy tale, a sort of a darker version of Cinderella. Thanks to the #ChildrensClassicRead2021 for I have not read of the legend of Baba Yaga before this! 🤦‍♀️

TheBookHippie Oh I am so glad you enjoyed it!! I tend to like the dark fairy tales the best!! My Bubbe Grandma told me Baba Yaga stories, I loved them!! 3y

A beautifully illustrated edition of this Russian fairy tale. I think I have this in various collections, but now I have this one for the pictures, too. Excellent choice, @TheBookHippie #childrensclassicread2021

December's Wish | Karly Lane

My stack for #DashingDecember - I hope to read at least one hour per day (today that might be a stretch); goals are to keep up with Book Woman for #SheSaid, finish current section and read the next in Tehran, read Dionysus, read Vasilisa for #childrensclassicread2021, start Trail of Lightning and/or Well Matched, and maybe start The Bear and the Nightingale. I will consider any of those accomplished a roaring success!

Andrew65 A great stack. I‘m also hoping to read The Bear and the Nightingale. Good luck with the Readathon. 3y
ravenlee @Andrew65 The Bear and the Nightingale is the #YABuddyRead for this month if you‘re interested. I don‘t know if I‘ll get to it in time for discussion, but maybe. 3y
Andrew65 @ravenlee Thanks, I didn‘t know that. I will check it out. 3y
