Cat's Eye | Margaret Atwood

Pickpick

Margaret Atwood is incredible.

This book is so well-written and powerful. A deep dive study of childhood and its impact on adult life. Beautifully detailed narrative of middle aged woman visiting her childhood hometown. Her memories unfold slowly, but I was never bored and often taken aback. I saw pieces of myself as a kid, a teenager, a wife, a mom, and as a woman in general. So disturbing, but so incredibly good.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

EmilyM This is my favorite Atwood book. 5y
DogMomIrene I loved this one! I wrote a paper about whatever the MC‘s terrible habit was. Can‘t remember if she was cutting herself or something else. But I analyzed her emotional state as it related to whatever the habit was. Oddly enough, it was one of those college papers that I really loved writing because the character was so good, even if the habit was bad for her. 5y
merelybookish Ditto @EmilyM The Atwood that has stayed with me more than any other. 5y

batsy Nice review! I'm with @EmilyM and @merelybookish it's one of her best from the ones I've read, imo 🙂 5y
youneverarrived Read this in my teens and still remember it! 5y
HOTPock3tt I started reading this last week! I wish I knew you were reading it we could‘ve done a buddy read ☺️I like it so far but I‘m not very far along in the story... 5y
sprainedbrain @HOTPock3tt isn‘t that weird though? #booksisters strike again. 😂 The audio IS really good for this! (edited) 5y
HOTPock3tt I know right!! 😃♥️#Booksisters!! I would‘ve sworn you‘d already read it!! it is AWESOME!! I have to get my hands on a better ebook copy. The one I have won‘t upload to my kindle so I had to read it on my small phone screen 😅 and the main ebook copy has a wait list at my library. I won‘t do the audio though... thanks for the heads up! 5y
sprainedbrain @HOTPock3tt omg that was a typo. The audio IS really good. 😂😂😂 5y
HOTPock3tt Oh ok! Lol 😆maybe I‘ll try it then!! 😁 this ebook situation is getting on my nerves. There must be so many Atwood fans in my area you can never get a copy of one of her books 🤦🏽‍♀️lol 5y

Mehso-so

Yikes!! 😅 Well I guess this would be considered a short novella... but I just felt like the characters acted in ways opposite to their established personalities. The storyline was also quite boring: see below ⬇️ the only thing that saved this from being a pan was probably the memory of the previous three books, and the fact that it was nice to visit this world again... even with a boring storyline 😪

sprainedbrain This was a so-so for me too! #booksisters 😂😂😂 5y
HOTPock3tt They were preparing to celebrate Christmas thru the whole book 😭 so frikin boring. But the main boring thing was having to hear so much about the post war fallout. I just didn‘t care anymore 😣 Plus Nesta-who is clearly in love with Cassian and was going to give up here LIFE for him- sleeping with random dudes and avoiding him. It just didn‘t seem like the outcome of this story. I didn‘t expect it to be smooth but.. not like that 😑 5y
HOTPock3tt @sprainedbrain OMG!!! 🤣🤣🤣 #BookSisters for real!!! 😃♥️♥️ (edited) 5y

OMG this book was:🔥 It became one of my fave reads this entire year. I‘ve read ahead a bit at this point and this is one of those series that you just literally LIVE in while you‘re reading it ♥️ Well written, fun characters and such natural world building that it feels real. Starts slow, but once it warms up it never lets go!! ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️/5

HOTPock3tt @sprainedbrain I literally BOUGHT this based on your review alone!! Of course I‘d heard of it, but when you raved about it, I KNEW I would love it!!! #BookSister ♥️ and btw you were soo right, the 2nd book is even HOTTER!! 🔥😍not sure how that‘s even possible! But between Rhys constantly TEASING her, finding out more about his character and the beautiful night court setting, I was in LOVE!!!! (edited) 5y
sprainedbrain YES!!! I thought I loved Tam, and then omg Rhys. 😍😍😍😍 we are definitely #booksisters 😂 5y
HOTPock3tt Totally agree!! I loved Tam at first... I thought they were sexy together. I was kind of sad when it looked like they wouldn‘t be together and then RHYS happened!!!! 😱♥️🎉 his whole demeanor is so much sexier and the way he constantly teases her omg!! Not to mention his genuine love for her and all he did to win her.😍 I‘m on the 3rd book now and I almost don‘t want it to end 🤣 (edited) 5y
HOTPock3tt @sprainedbrain quick question... did the whole thing where she ‘became‘ the book of breathings (I think this happened in ACOMAF) remind you of the all souls trilogy? Even though she only merged the books for a second... her becoming the book and earlier becoming one of the most powerful fae around reminded me of it too since Diana was such a powerful witch 🤔 Matthew is NO Rhysand though 🤣 he is too dark and brooding lol 5y
sprainedbrain @HOTPock3tt yes, it did put me in mind of All Souls! And I think All Souls came first... but you are absolutely right. There is no comparing Matthew and Rhys. 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥 5y

Gezemice @Riveted_Reader_Melissa I don‘t think I will be using it on a daily basis - I have invested in Goodreads. But the recommendations and stats are soooo much better, it does not even compare! 6y
Riveted_Reader_Melissa @Gezemice I downloaded my stuff from GR, and updated for awhile, and then slacked way off. I need to keep updating, so my recommendations stay good. 6y
BookNAround If I‘m not mistaken, she‘s on my LT list too. 6y
Gezemice @BookNAround Awesome! What‘s your id? 6y
Gezemice @Riveted_Reader_Melissa I don‘t feel like updating three platforms, and Goodreads and Litsy is where my bookfriends are. But it is great to look at your stats and recommendations. Me thinks I will just upload my Goodreads library from time to time. 6y
BookNAround @Gezemice I‘m whitreidtan on LT. 6y
Gezemice @BookNAround Awesome. I am Gezemice ;) 6y
