With the help of a couple of graphic novels I did it! I read a total of 1,150 pages! I finished 5 books (and DNF'd one) and most importantly I really enjoyed myself. I hope everyone enjoyed what they read too.

My 3rd completed book for #BooksinBloom 🌸

This was a solid start to a long running procedural series set in Scotland. The gruff cop who doesn‘t play by the rules. Cliched but still enjoyable, for what it is. A copy cat serial killer and a case that still haunts DCI Logan. Very fast paced and tense.

This is also a #BlameitonLitsy book. I‘d never heard of the author or series until @TheSpineView and @Andrew65 posted about it.

‘What happens when your story doesn‘t end the way you thought it would?‘

At times humorous, at times heartbreaking, Forrest very openly talks about ending her celebrity marriage and starting her life over after divorce.

‘Red doesn‘t like to think of herself as a killer, but she isn‘t about to let herself get eaten up just because she is a woman alone in the woods....‘

A story about a girl on her own in a postapocalyptic world, just trying to make it to her grandmother‘s without getting killed along the way. Great story.

This was at times amusing but overall just OK for me. It was a bit of a rom com / family drama, when retired George, who has likely always suffered from undiagnosed anxiety, really starts to lose his grip. Meanwhile, his daughter is marrying a man her family feels is beneath her, his wife is having an affair (though he doesn‘t know it yet) and his gay son is having trouble integrating his love life with his family life. #BooksinBloom 2nd book✔️

#BooksInBloom Update:

What a difference a day and a book make. I gave up on Play Dirty and immediately blasted through 32% of First Comes Like. I also picked up a comic to help me gain some easy pages.

I hope I‘ll be able to squeeze in one more book before it‘s all over but I‘m not sure I‘ll make my goal of 1,000 pages.

#BooksInBloom Update:

I had a rare no pages day yesterday. This is a sure sign I‘m not loving what I‘m reading cause I don‘t feel like picking it up. It is an ARC so I‘m going to try and give it an extra push today but if I‘m still not feeling it I‘ll DNF and move on. 😟

#LitsyTOB24 First completed book for #BooksinBloom

I liked this a lot and am glad I re-read 1984 as preparation. The book gives Julia a backstory and interesting insight and contrasts to Winston Smith without detracting from its source material. Occasionally a little longer than it needed to be.
