This was a YA novel about a young man who has agoraphobia caused by anxiety. A former classmate who barely knew him when he still went to school decided she would “fix” him so she‘d have a topic for a college application essay. Since I‘ve read books before, I could guess how that would turn out but this was still a good read. Everyone is written in a sympathetic way, which is important.

This was my #BookSpin for May

My first 2 days of orientation is 1.5 hour drive from home (today is day 1 of orientation to a Prison Nurse gig). Anyway saw this on Netflix. I thought I had read it but I didn‘t :( so… found it on Libby #AudioCommute

Started this one last night 💚. Really excited to read this, it's different from what I've been reading. I found it used at 2nd & Charles.

Must read before you watch it on Netflix. The book is always better than the movie 🎥 5/5 ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Any recommendations for what I should read next?

I was pleasantly surprised by this book!

Anna Fox lives alone as an alcoholic with agoraphobia. How does she spend her time? Besides drinking, she basically watches life outside her window and chats online.

The family across the street particularly holds her interest - a mother, father, and their teenage son. But are they really as perfect as they seem?

Definitely worth the read, and there are 100% parts that were not in the film!

ScrappyMags I hope the book is better than the Netflix movie. As an agoraphobic... I can assure many this is soooo not was 99% of agoraphobics are like. 4y
Bec_lectic Loved the book! Going to watch the movie this week but not expecting much 4y

Very suspenseful. Kept me guessing and there were several, “WHAT?” moments.

Unfortunately, I kept getting distracted and annoyed by the overuse of analogies and adverbs. *Some* make the story more vivid. They were so prevalent that when there wasn‘t one, I noticed.

Dan_1988 I really enjoyed this read. I don‘t usually like movie adaptions, but this will be good! 4y
Maria514626 @Dan_1988 I‘m looking forward to the movie, too. It is a good story and Amy Adams is a fabulous actress. 4y
Dan_1988 @Maria514626 yes, Amy Adams is good. It was supposed to be released some time ago but with the pandemic happening 😕. Let‘s hope it‘s this year. Looking forward to it! 4y

12/31/2020 just found out that this is going to be made into a movie!!! I could not put this down!!! I had no clue what was going on. It is necessary to question the reliability of the narrator, but she doesn‘t seem that far gone, does she? Then again, there is all the wine...so much wine...yet, at the agoraphobic narrator witnesses a horrific murder, can she possibly make anyone believe her?
