An intriguing, slightly mystical young adult romance. I loved how it incorporated elements from different cultures and mythologies into its theme, and that the art is really important to the story, not just illustrating the words. It would make a fantastic animated movie.

@Faranae I'm tempted to use this for URC “fine art on the cover“ 'cause it's so gorgeous or should I go more conventional?

Faranae Definitely not one of the “serious“ prompts, so I say go for it. Also, it's a graphic novel so I'll likely actually read it! 2d
willaful @Faranae I just realized it has a spiral, so I'm going for that instead. Much harder to track down! 2d

This book makes me want to start my own tradition of sending valentines poems to my friends. This book was a quick read, both charming and lighthearted. I loved it and fully intend to reread it again and again. ♥️

This afternoon‘s poetry choice. I got the bookmark from a local artist at a ComiCon earlier today. I‘d never been to a ComiCon before, and this one was fairly small, but I actually thought that was a good thing, since it wasn‘t as much of an overload for all my senses. I‘m glad I went, even if the experience overall was underwhelming.

dabbe I adore Ted Kooser. 🤩 1w
Gissy Beautiful bookmark😍👌 1w
slategreyskies @dabbe I really do as well. You know, on his website, he has listed an address where you can write letters to him. I thought that was such a friendly thing for him to do. It warmed my heart somehow. It felt so old fashioned and kind. I think I would like him if I knew him in person as well, which I can‘t say for all authors/poets. 1w

slategreyskies @Gissy I loved that I was able to purchase it from the artist. I made sure to tell them how much I loved their art! ♥️ 1w
dabbe @slategreyskies I didn't know that! I'm going to check out his website! Thanks. 🤗 1w

Valentine‘s Day used to be Valentina‘s favorite holiday—but not anymore. She believes her family is cursed to be unlucky in love. But when she meets a cute lion dancer on Lunar New Year, she embarks on a reluctant journey, hoping that maybe—just maybe—she can break that curse. This didn‘t have the complexity I loved in American Born Chinese, but as a love story, it still took some unexpected turns! Great characters, & I loved the artwork as well.

4 ⭐ This is a quick short read. Molly Graham works for a very special museum in New York. It‘s a museum of literature. And her museum is just getting ready to start an exhibit on Jane Austin, and some books have been lent from a very private estate in the UK. On the night of the big Premier party, our main gal, Molly has had enough of peopleing and goes back to find there‘s a stranger in her office. Figuring this stranger is some ductal

LibrarianRyan candidate they have a fantastically fun night together as this new British guy, Al, just wants to see the sites of New York. They have an amazing couple of months together and Molly thinks things are going somewhere until one day she is ghosted. She is left at the Met and her date never shows up. When the end of the exhibit comes, she‘s travels to the UK to return the book and finds, her Al waiting for her. This book is exactly what someone expect 1mo
LibrarianRyan when they read the title and the description. This book has all the tropes, but you love them. This book is very predictable, but the book is about the ride and how you get from the beginning to end, then the ability to predict, the happily ever after. This was a fun romcom and I really enjoyed it. It was just the perfect length. Any longer and it would have veered towards boring or overdone. 1mo

Such a great graphic novel! The story took a lot of twists and turns, the characters were funny and heartwarming, and the art was INCREDIBLE. I got this around Lunar New Year, and I was a little late in finishing it, but so worth it. Would definitely recommend!

Best graphic novel I have read in ages!!! A YA love story at its core, but its so much more. It tackles the decisions we make as parents, which we think are in our childrens best interests, butsometimes they are not. It also showcases Korean culture and lion dancing. This story has an amazing cast of characters (some of whom made me laugh out loud). The illustrations are beautiful.
