I was driving in the countryside yesterday, listening to Wicked and came across a tin man mailbox!!
What a #coinkydink !
I‘m re-listening to this since the movie is coming out soon.
I read the book years ago and really did not enjoy it. It‘s still not my favorite book, but I‘m enjoying it a little better this time.
I have never seen the musical, which must have its own life, with such great music. It will be fun to see the movie adaptation.

Suet624 The musical was good. That mailbox is fantastic! 4d
tpixie @Suet624 I hope the movie is as well. I would think it would be more like the musical than the book. It really is a fun mailbox. I‘m from Kansas, so that might be why they have a tin man mailbox. 4d
Suet624 @tpixie it‘s even better knowing the mailbox is in Kansas! 4d

Lesliereadsalot The musical is amazing! Just saw it for the second time and it has held up over so many years. The show stopper at the end of the first half is really something. 3d
tpixie @Lesliereadsalot that‘s fun that you got to see a once in a lifetime event twice! 3d

I read this way back when it was first released. But someone lost my original copy. My daughter already bought us tickets for the movie. She‘s really excited for our mother-daughter date. But I think a reread is in order. And it gave me an excuse to buy this beautiful edition as a replacement.

thegirlwiththelibrarybag My sister is a huge Ariana Grande fan - she was super disappointed that the Australian premiere was in Sydney - or she would have been there 🥹 I was a little disappointed to see that it‘s 2 movies not 1 - guess it will be interesting to see if it follows the book or stage show. Enjoy your reread and hopefully the movie is good! 2w
JacqMac @thegirlwiththelibrarybag If I remember correctly, the book is pretty dark. I expect it will be more like the musical, but we shall see. 2w

Mehso-so

I live in Kansas so have to try Wizard of Oz inspired 📖 even though Kansas typically gets the short end of the where-to-plant-your-feet stick. I expected 11yo Dorothy as the MC. Instead fictional Dr Evelyn Grace Woodford (cousin to the IRL Frank L Baum) rode in from New York to save Dorothy from rural religious Kansans. I get and respect the message, the bastardization of faith - I just wish it wasn‘t with Dorothy, Uncle Henry, and Auntie Em.

When I read this back in '07, I was so impressed. I loved the play, too, but it wasn't nearly as #dark as the book!
