Anyone going to the Texas Book Festival in Austin this weekend? We could do a #litsy meet up? #Texas #texasbookfestival #austin

Suet624 Texas allows book festivals to take place? 🥴 1mo
Julsmarshall Yep! @Suet624 we have quite a few to be honest, at least for now. We are fighting the good fight down here! (edited) 1mo

I picked up 3 books at #TexasBookFestival this year. Can‘t wait to read them all! (Though I also just got Iron Flame and Bookshops & Bonedust should be here tomorrow, so I don‘t know what order I‘ll get to them!)📚 I had a fun time at the fest even though it was chilly and drizzly.

I also saw Nana Kwame Adjei-Brenyah talk about Chain-Gang All-Stars, but it was in a theater and they didn‘t allow photos.

ShelleyBooksie Starter Villan sounds so good! 13mo
Hooked_on_books Chain-gang is my favorite of the year. I bet that talk was awesome! 13mo
Soubhiville @Hooked_on_books It was really great. He did a reading from the prologue and had the crowd chanting Bishop‘s name as if we were at the match. It was powerful. 13mo
Hooked_on_books That‘s incredible! It gives me chills just reading that. And goes to show how hard that book is hitting people, which I love. 13mo

The Ferryman: A Novel | Justin Cronin
post image

Justin Cronin and Ben Fountain were on a panel together for Texas Writers today. Justin is on the left. Paulette Jiles was supposed to be here as well but didn‘t make it.

I loved The Passage series, and I picked up a copy of The Ferryman and got it signed. ☺️

Hooked_on_books Signed! Oh, I‘m envious. I really enjoyed it. I think you‘ll like it, too. 13mo
Soubhiville @Hooked_on_books I barely ever do the signing lines, as they are usually chaotic and I don‘t want to take the time to wait. But since this was the last panel of the day for me, and the session wasn‘t too crowded, I decided to tell him how much I loved the Passage series and get signed. 🙂 13mo

My final #bookspin board for 2023! Thank you @TheAromaofBooks for continuing to host this fun monthly challenge. 💕📚❄️

These really aren‘t seasonal, but my #AuthorAMonth and books for both of my bookclubs are on there, as well as a few books I picked up at the #TexasBookFestival last month. Looking forward to the picks!

TheAromaofBooks Yay!!! 2y
Bklover I just checked out The Housekeeper and the Professor for December #authoramonth . And I‘m gonna read it! 2y

Went to Book People this evening for a little #bookhaul, including the tagged book for #IndependentWomen #BigBuddyRead with @Cinfhen and @BarbaraBB . I‘ll be using The Echo Wife for #Booked2023 for a book you could describe using the word “twist”, as I saw a review that called it precisely that 🙂📚.

I went to see an author speak, but unfortunately he got covid and had to cancel the last week of his tour 😞. (Travis Baldree- Legends & Lattes)

Soubhiville @CaseyTheCanadianLesbrarian I was excited to see your review for this, as I hadn‘t heard of it but read the first couple sentences of the blurb and it sounds fun 2y
Soubhiville And I‘ve already read the first 2 chapters of Macallister‘s book in the cafe- saw her at #TexasBookFestival and wanted to get the book there, but they had sold out 2y
Bookishlie Ooooo you‘re local! You should also try lark and owl in Georgetown and fabled in Waco! 2y

Soubhiville @Bookishlie I‘ve been to Lark and Owl, never to Waco though. My “home” bookstore is Black Pearl Books on Burnett. I‘m also a big fan of Nowhere Bookshop in San Antonio 🙂📚💕 2y
Cinfhen Fantastic purchases!!! I really enjoyed Echo Wife!!! Perfect choice for #twist and the other two books looks really good 😊 2y
BarbaraBB Such a great haul!! 2y
AmyG The Echo Wife was good…and yes, it has a twist! Also Small Game was good….a very interesting plot. Emjoy! 2y

#TexasBookFestival purchases. There were two others I wanted to get today that had already sold out, so I‘ll be picking them up later. I‘ve got one more session to attend shortly, the one for the tagged book, which I‘m really excited to hear about. I‘ll try tagging the others below, including the two I couldn‘t get today.

Soubhiville Becoming Kaxan is from a small press and isn‘t in the database, but it‘s a children‘s book about a dog I groom 🐾💕! 2y

Scorpica | G.R. Macallister

My favorite panel of the day was with GR Macallister and Rebecca Roanhorse. I haven‘t read either of these books yet, but I‘m looking forward to them.

lynneamch Oh man. Wish I'd been there. I follow Greer on Facebook and she's been posting about it today. On Litsy, she's @theladygreer 2y
TNbookworm Loved Scorpica, I love her historical fiction as well! 2y
Hooked_on_books I didn‘t know GM had written a fantasy book! Her Litsy posts are lovely—she definitely makes an effort to elevate other female authors, and I love that. 2y

Texas Book Festival is this weekend! I spent an hour or so today figuring out which panels I‘m going to see- always a tough decision with so many authors!

Anyone else planning on attending?
#TexasBookFestival #TxBookFest

AmyG Have a wonderful time!!! 2y
Christy2318 My friend and I are going to see Janet Evanovich. I wasn‘t very excited by any of the panels this year. 2y
MemoirsForMe How cool! Have fun! 2y

ChaoticMissAdventures Portland 's book festival is this weekend too!! 2y
Hooked_on_books That‘s so exciting! I‘ve loved the author talks I‘ve been to. 2y
Soubhiville @Christy2318 Have fun! There aren‘t a lot of authors I‘m very familiar with, but a lot of the panel topics sound good. I‘m looking forward to the environmental ones. 2y
Fortifiedbybooks I miss the Texas Book Festival. I've been to a couple of other similar events in the different states I've lived in since leaving Texas, but none of them are as great as the Texas Book Festival! 2y

Just Like You | Nick Hornby
post image

It‘s the final day of #TexasBookFestival 😁📚

All of the panels are available to watch until the end of November though, so you haven‘t missed out yet!

I plan to watch several of these today, but I‘m most looking forward to Nick Hornby, as I‘ve enjoyed Ten Years in the Tub and have High Fidelity sitting in my TBR shelf.

I‘m also excited for the Texas Debut authors, I usually end up adding some of them to my TBR.

AmyG Psychological fiction. Ooooo. I think I am all signed up for this. 🤞🏻 (edited) 4y
Soubhiville Texasbookfestival.org @AmyG the ones which have already happened you can just follow the link to watch anytime- although the headliners aren‘t free (I think only Picoult and McConaughey). The ones today if you RSVP they will email you a link to join the panel about 10 minutes before it starts. I‘ve had a couple of my questions answered live! 4y
Soubhiville Ah I see you figured it out faster than I could type 🤣😉 @AmyG 4y
AmyG That‘s so neat! I think I am all set. Ha...now I have something to do while the husband watches football. 🤣 (I figured it couldn‘t be hard to sign up...or nobody would “attend”). (edited) 4y
