I‘m looking forward to this panel at Texas Book Festival, starting in about an hour. I love nonfiction about animals and the environment, so this panel is one of my most anticipated this year.

Most of the panels will be available to watch for 30 days after the fest, if you‘ve missed something! www.Texasbookfestival.org

Mitch Yeah - see you there honey - there has to be at least one event we go to “together“ ! x 4y
Soubhiville @Mitch yay! I‘ve been to lots but haven‘t been posting much about them. I just watched the Memorial Drive one- it was so good I immediately put the book on hold with the library. It‘s got a long waitlist though. ❤️ 4y
Mitch I didn't realise until you said that they were accessible after the event - which makes it more possible with the time different etc.. looking forward to Yaa Gyasi tomorrow 4y

Dual Citizens | Alix Ohlin

Pickpick

Dual Citizens is about two sisters, Lark and Robin, and their childhood with a neglectful mother, then adulthoods starting out together but separating for very different life paths. There is a bittersweet twinge of not understanding each other while also having a bond that only comes with siblings.

I‘m glad I came across this author at last year‘s #TXBookFestival. I‘d read more by her.

BiblioLitten Cool bookend. 🖤 5y
Alwaysbeenaloverofbooks Do you think they will have the festival this year? Everything is so crazy!! 5y

Attended an interesting panel discussing cultural obsession of women and violence. Fascinating and disheartening. I‘ve stacked both books discussed (I‘ll tag other books in comments) and will hopefully be able to read them in the new year. #txbookfest #txbookfestival

DebinHawaii I have that one Disappearing Earth but haven‘t started it yet. 5y
Suet624 I really liked Disappearing Earth. 5y
EKonrad Sounds interesting. I loved Savage Appetites, so I‘ll have to check out Disappearing Earth. Thanks for the recommendation! 5y

Bought my tickets tonight for Madame Secretary at #BookPeople & Dan Rather at #txbookfestival I'm so excited! #politicaljunkie #atx

Julsmarshall See you there! 7y
Texreader So I met Dan Rather about 20-something years ago. Went up to him, told him how much my MOTHER loved him and would he sign an autograph for her? He did. I was told later how rude I was to him! Oops! Please be nice to him on my behalf. 7y
Laalaleighh Omg. Incredibly jealous. 7y

Jess7 Heads up: #HRC will be speaking live on CSPAN beginning at 7 pm EST about the 2016 presidential race and her book #WhatHappened 7y
Christy2318 @jess7 Wish I could have caught that. Real life is interfering with my reading and other bookish pursuits! I bet it was really interesting. 7y
Jess7 @Christy2318 I understand - I think you can go to CSPAN's website and watch the video tomorrow or at a later date when you have more time. I saw an advertisement after the broadcast that said events aired on their show over the past 30 years are available on their website. 7y
Christy2318 @Jess7 Thanks for the info! I will look for it. 7y

Homegoing: A novel | Yaa Gyasi

Hearing Yaa Gyasi speak was a dream come true. Homegoing was hands down in my top 5 books this year. So good. Hearing her story and background was so interesting. Made me love the book even more if that's possible. 💜📚 #allthebooks #books #txbookfestival #texasbookfestival2016 #yaagyasi #homegoing

At #TXBookFestival panel "Writers on reading". I enjoyed both @ChrisBohjalian and Helen Ellis' points of view on literature, and added a bunch of books to my TBR! Thanks!

Foragingfantasy I'm soooo envious. I wanted to be there. Austin gets the best bookish events. Waco is " 8y
Foragingfantasy Lame... 8y

The Buffalo Soldier | Chris Bohjalian
post image

I love this story #setinasmalltown in Vermont, as most of Chris Bohjalian's books are. A white police officer and his wife adopt a 10 year old black child, who isnt aware of the complicated situation he's moving into.

I'm also incredibly excited to see Mr Bohjalian speak at the TX Book Festival today and hopefully get a couple of books signed! He's been one of my favorite writers since the mid 90's!

ChrisBohjalian Color me honored. Thank you so very much! 8y
