My very messy February list. I‘m working on reading down my TBR, various challenges, and getting ready for #TournamentofBooks2025. My free spaces will be devoted to more #TOB2025, my big stack of ARCs, and of course the #NancyDrewBuddyRead. February is a short month but my list is long. Just saying I could use another blizzard.
This was my most anticipated #TOB2025 title. I live in a city in Virginia with a large Ethiopian population so I thought I would learn more about my new neighbors. Haha no. That‘s not at all what this was. This was a fever dream that jumped all over the place and I‘m not even sure what happened to be honest. I‘m not mad. Just confused. Still a pick, but don‘t ask me any questions 😂
Finally, my in-hand so-excited-for hardcover edition of #ToB favorite! Posed with a cooperative Copper - look at that face! Starting this as my last #ToB2025 entry that I am sure I devour but want to savor and not pressure through #ifyouknowwhatImean. Through my reading, I am having a lovely January ❄️ 🌟
Btw, Jan 23 is National Pie Day! 🥧 grab a slice 😁
Isn‘t this just THE cutest pic of my dear departed Esther? My current iPhone‘s screensaver. So, I am 5+ minutes in so far and will listen as I walk Copper or drive to/fro from work. Am just ready to endure this mediocre white boy. #LFG #ToB2025
Such a creative approach to writing about a topic that (obviously) terrifies and infuriates me. I went in expecting one kind of story and was very surprised by the twists and turns of this one. A fun read and a light pick for me. #TOB2025
This was a book that absolutely did not grab my attention, I sensed an unreliable narrator who does things that make no sense; I went into it thinking it might be a devastating immigrant story, but once I put it down and then a few days go by, and then when I do open it back up with low motivation and hit a snag (drawn curtains are closed! Not open), WHAT DO I Do? I find many of my friends loved it. #sigh A case of “it‘s me, not the book.”
⭐️⭐️⭐️ I didn‘t love this. The writing was engaging and I got through it quickly but I just did not connect with the MC. There were some interesting pieces of commentary about women‘s sexuality and relationship structures and menopause, but by the time they came around I wasn‘t willing to give the MC a pass for being a self-absorbed jerk. #ToB2025 #ToB25
A better picture of AllTheBooks that came in from being on hold at once at the library. Jeez, that‘s what I get for trying to game the system and have future holds to look forward to! 😅
My pup looks unimpressed by the future distractions for my time…
Currently reading and enjoying the tagged for #tob2025
I liked this strange collection of stories - another satisfying read from the #TOB2025 longlist that I may not have picked up otherwise. In some ways they reminded me of Carmen Machado‘s story collection that I loved - bizarre events presented in a matter of fact style that I am really drawn to.
