pickLily‘s high school year is greatly complicated by McCarthyism, developing feelings for a new friend, & a desire to shoot for the stars.
This was a hard listen, but fantastic. High school stories are always tricky for me, but this was beautifully done. Lily‘s strength of character dealing w/ homophobia, her father getting investigated for links to communism, & a toxic friendship was amazing. Wasn‘t a fan of the time skip @ the end. 🌕🌕🌕🌕🌑

shortsarahrose Totally agree with your review. I thought it handled the emotional elements of the story well without getting overly angsty like some YA. I didn‘t mind the time jump, but also didn‘t think it was necessary. 5h
BookmarkTavern @shortsarahrose My biggest issue with time skips is usually they skip over a time I wanted to see! I wanted to see Lily settle in with Judy, talk to her about the space program, become the more confident young woman she was at the end. @TheBookHippie I‘ll have to add the follow up to my TBR! shortsarahrose Yes! I think that could‘ve been a good sequel book, perhaps with flashbacks to Judy as a young person (I would also like to know more of her story). 4h
